About this deal

If this happens, remove your phone from the charger and allow it to cool before continuing to charge. If possible, positioning the phone/charger near an A/C vent can help keep the phone and charger cool. For this test, I also mounted a camera at the bottom of the bike. The idea is to let you see what the front wheel was experiencing when the devices were subjected to uneven surfaces. Two screws are used to fit the base, with a pair of 16mm and 18mm-long M4s supplied to replace the ones fitted to your bike. Make sure you use the right length, and don’t force them if they seem to be bottoming out. While it should be positioned with the USB-A port angled downwards – so water and filth don’t collect in it – the case itself is IP66 rated (dust-tight and resistant to powerful jets of water), and the port is IPX8 (not dust resistant as it’s open, but fully resistant to immersion in water). There’s no USB cable supplied, though you’ll almost certainly have one to suit your phone already.

The smartphone is changing the world and more and more everyday tasks require one. As a result, having a smartphone close at hand is becoming a necessity versus a “nice to have.” Motorcycle riders are no exception, and they are often looking for secure ways of mounting their phones to their bikes.A: Standard wireless charging is 5W whereas Fast Wireless charging is charging above 5W up to a maximum of 15W. The charger has a 1.5m-long cable that terminates in an SAE connector (the same as used on Optimate chargers), with a second cable about 20cm long that has the corresponding SAE connector at one end and a pair of ring terminals to connect to your battery at the other. You could wire this into an auxiliary switched supply on your bike if you want, but I found that without a phone connected, the USB charger pulled about 1.5mA, so would take a good while to flatten the battery. The extension arm pivots at both ends, and rotates where it meets the base, so combined with the rotation in the head you can set this in a surprisingly wide range of positions. On the VFR, space is very tight when the bars are turned due to the screen, but I was still able to get the phone to fit (if only vertically). Standard wireless charging is 5W whereas Fast Wireless charging is charging above 5W up to a maximum of 15W.

Both mounts feature in-built magnets for perfect alignment with the charging head and wireless charging pad every time. With Wireless charging, you can keep your phone always in the green and even charge your Apple MAG accessories such as AirPods PRO simultaneously with the Dual Desktop Wireless Charger. So convenient! Different phone manufacturers also implement different approaches to manage the charge rate in the aim to protect the phone's battery. Within our current offering, there are no identified issues. But if a phone were to be mounted onto specific machinery or equipment, potential issues could arise. Broadly speaking, no issues have been observed thus far.I never tested the charger from 0 percent phone charge, but it took less than an hour to charge my Samsung S10+ from 65 to 100 percent. What's the difference between Weatherproof Wireless Charging head and the standard Wireless Charging Head? Compatibility with MagSafe products may vary and third-party wireless chargers may vary depending on device and charging model.

There’s still the question of whether that movement is beneficial for the phone compared to being held rigidly in place, such as in the case of the claw device. I suspect it’s better for the phone since at least some high-frequency vibes were likely damped out. But I don’t have any scientific measurements to say one way or another with certainty.

Once the mount is attached to the bike, removing the lever mechanism allows fitment of the wireless charging head, which you then wire up to the bike’s battery so it can charge your phone. If your bike has an SAE port you’ll be able to plug the adapter straight into that. If you don’t have an SAE or USB port, then you attach the wires provided with the adapter directly to your battery, which is how I fitted it to my Hornet. A: The charging head fits all our motorbike mounts and mounts which feature our index connecting feature such as the Out Front Mount Pro. When I first started using the system, getting the phone onto the adapter was a bit fidgety. But once you get the hang of it, it is literally a two or three-second operation. You can later release the phone from the adapter and wireless charging mount by pushing down on the arm(s) underneath the phone. After that, removal is a piece of cake. Designed to fix in place of the screws that hold the lid on many motorcycle and scooter brake / clutch reservoirs, this mount is a very clever design that opens up even more options.

With an anodised machined aluminium arm and reinforced nylon pivot, this mount fits over the clamp that holds the brake and clutch levers in place on many bikes. It’s a system that’s long been used by RAM mounts for sat-navs, and supplied spacers allow it to fit both my GS (despite these also being the mirror mounts) and the VFR800. Exposing your iPhone to high amplitude vibrations within certain frequency ranges, specifically those generated by high-power motorcycle engines, can degrade the performance of the camera system.” To achieve standard charging output of 5W, this requires an adaptor with a minimum output of 5 Volt/2 Amp*

In some cases, the wireless charging head may not activate when your ignition is started when plugged into a 3rd party USB charger. This may be resolved by using our Dual USB 12V Charger The only time to be concerned is if that light starts flashing. If it’s flashing blue there is an error, flashing green means low power coming from the charger and/or bike battery and if it starts flashing pale blue the charger is overheating. I don’t recall seeing any of these lights yet. Apple's guide to temperature regulation, which has some crossover with other phone brands, recommends keeping your phone out of direct sunlight or operating in a hot vehicle. Wireless charging is only 70-80% efficient so the additional 20-30% of energy is converted into heat. In normal conditions, this is not usually a problem, however, using the wireless charger in your car in direct sunlight can compound the issue and cause some phones to overheat.
