About this deal

The story follows Ally (Alcyone), the second sister in her quest of healing after the sudden death of her father, the mysterious billionaire Pa Salt. In this novel, we delve into the past of a blossoming singer, Anna, from pastoral Norway who is recruited to become the ghost voice for the premier production of Grieg's Peer Gynt. Harrison’s fully imagined world has conviction, and the perils of the story are lightened by the warmth and spirit of its characters’ The Sunday Times

When I wrote about the first novel of the cycle, I assumed that each book, in addition to the theme of experiencing loss, finding a family and forgiveness, a love and adventure component, would be a story about one of the modern wonders of the world, and now I understand that I was wrong. Bet on the next round of the game - each novel corresponds to its own kind of art: the first sculpture, the second music.Elle, Bo, Pip and Karine eft Leipzig for Norway after Bo’s lodging was set on fire. There were jews living these. We are not sure whether Bo/ Pa Salt was also a Jew, or if he just feared for the love of his life as she was. Jens and Anna fall in love, and Anna goes with him to Germany. Both leaving everything behind – including Anna’s rising fame and career.

According to many readers, the Tanit baby is none other than Marina, who often points out the fact that Pa is old enough to be her own father. She also sheds some minor light on her own history at some point, reminiscing “fate” and the “the kindness of strangers” -sounds like Pa has saved her from something at some point. We first meet Elle in The Storm Sister (book 2), in Leipzig, Germany around the beginning of WW2. She is Karine Roseblum’s best friend, Ally’s great grandmother. From 1988 to 1998, she was married to actor Owen Whittaker, with whom she had two children, Harry and Bella. From 2000 until her death, she was married to Stephen Riley, with whom she also had two children, Leonora and Kit. Through her second marriage, she also had three stepchildren, Olivia, William and Max. [2] She took a break from writing, returning to it in 2010; her subsequent novels were published under her married name. Lucinda Riley was born in Ireland, and after an early career as an actress in film, theatre and television, wrote her first book aged twenty-four. Her novel Hothouse Flower (also called The Orchid House) was selected by the UK's Richard and Judy Book Club and has been translated into thirty-four languages and sold over eight million copies worldwide. She is a New York Times and Sunday Times bestselling author. When arriving in Leipzig, they are out of money and Jens soon stops coming home for longer periods. Anna is pregnant, giving birth to a stillborn daughter shortly after Jens leave Leipzig to go with his new lover, Baroness von Gottfried, to Paris. In the meantime, Grieg discovers Anna and they develop a relationship “on the side”. 7 years later, Anna is pregnant again with Grieg’s child. Grieg demand Jens to return to take care of Anna and the baby and raise it as his own in Norway. By then, Jens was located in the “bohemian circle” in Montparnasse. Their son (or actually Anna and Grieg’s) is named Horst. To start with, some mythological and linguistic fun. Author Lucinda Riley sprinkles myths and anagrams like cornflakes indeed, and those contain a fair deal of hints about the overall story.

We meet Anna Landvik at her parents farm in 1875, before she goes to Oslo to sing Solveig’s voice in Peer Gynt at Christiania Theatre. She is only 18 years old, and sent to stay with Franz Bayer, a smart big city man with a large mustache, in his mid 50’s. He is a pianist and music teacher at the University of Christiania and arrange her role as in the play.

A final little adjustment to the whole theory: it could also be that Elle/Mrs. Tanit has only been posing as Pa’s lover this entire time, while being his sister in truth. It is said Elle and her brother were separated in Paris when they were kids, which makes this theory plausible. Also, it would give free way to the Elle + Kreeg Eszu theory, making him the father of her mysterious lost child.
