About this deal

A range of drawing skills and a commitment to drawing as a tool for communication and investigation I still believe a lot more can be done for inclusivity in our art industry and hope to discover how I can help with this movement and push it forward. There are many steps we can implement within art galleries that can easily involve a part of our community who are not always considered.

Art can be created through hundreds and thousands of different forms of media. Everyone is unique and different and so when approaching the industry or particular artistic community I think, though it is hard, that staying confident in your own skills and the unique qualities you have to offer is important. Brought up in a small village in Lincoln, under the legendary Red Arrows training path, I relocated and trained for a degree in Fashion Design at the University of Derby in the late 1990s, after which I spent 10 years working mainly as freelancer and consultant for a variety of designers and companies around the UK. Artist Linda Gass creates embroidered compositions with a distinct purpose: to illustrate the damage we're causing our planet. Her detailed works utilize several techniques, including quilting and embroidery. Together, they produce colorful, sprawling landscapes that depict pollution, rising sea levels, and land use. The pieces are gorgeous with intricate details, which according to Gass, is deliberate. She told Mental Floss, “I try to lure people in with that beauty to get them to confront the hard issues we face.” New creative environments– You will be introduced to new ways of seeing to push your creativity as a designer and provide fresh eyes to the world around you. The following teaching and learning methods are employed to support the integrated achievement of the course outcomes using a blended learning mode of delivery: Urban X Stitch takes the concept of street graffiti and marries it with embroidery techniques to create something unique. It typically uses a variety of stitch styles, and a wide range of time-honoured designs: figurative motifs depicting flowers, birds and animals, as well as geometric and abstract patterns. Untwisted (flat) silk threads create a rich sheen and, when combined with padded stitching, create wonderful three-dimensional effects; twisted threads are stronger and create bolder lines. Chinese embroidery has four distinct regional styles: Shu xiu (Sichuan), featuring mostly natural-world motifs; Su xiu (Jiangsu), in which colours are more naturalistic; Xiang xiu (Hunan), known for emulating paintings, engravings and calligraphy; and Yue xiu (Guangdong), characterised by the use of strong colours, no attempt to produce an illusion of depth, and a prevalence of dragons and phoenix motifs. English Language Requirements Yolanda Andrés (@yolandandres) grew up in a town surrounded by friends and family with the women in her life. But she hung up the thimble to dedicate herself to graphic design and advertising until in 2008, when her daughter was born prematurely, she began to accompany the long hours in the hospital with the thread and needle. So what she started as a way to abstract herself, stop counting hours and relax became her job. Now she is an artistic embroiderer who has worked for large brands and institutions such as Hermès, Museo Thyssen or Carolina Herrera.
