About this deal

I wash over the board or canvas with a warm base colour, then if I decide to leave parts of the canvas bare , this colour adds a glow to the finished painting. I paint in watercolour, oil and acrylic. Whilst the ranges of colours produced by companies are different (and the names given to similar colours may vary) I have stood by certain colours throughout my career. In general my choice of colours is the same for watercolour and oil/acrylic. With the former I use white gouache rather than a pure watercolour white because it is more opaque. However it is deployed sparingly (if at all) because I like to use the white of the paper. The question refers to squeezing out colours – yes, in the case of watercolour I always use tubes, not pans. Let children express and explore their creativity with these amazing Wild Animal Mindfulness Colouring Sheets. The resource includes seven wild animals with different patterns drawn on them, that can be coloured the way kids like. The sheets can also be used for a lesson about safari animals. Print the sheets and hand them to the children at the end of the lesson to make sure they are never going to forget how each animal looks like. When they’re done, use their masterpieces to create a beautiful classroom display. Or, you can go big and organise an exhibition for parents to admire the work of their little ones. In Colour Sketch – Bosham I began by using warm colours for the buildings – Yellow Ochre, Raw Sienna , Alizarin Crimson. I used Alizarin Crimson and Cobalt Blue mixed with White for the sky and sea, and for the trees – Yellow Ochre and Cobalt. So just five colours. The paints that I always keep and frequently use are: Lemon and Cadmium Yellow, Yellow Ochre, Naples Yellow, then French Ultramarine , maybe Cobalt or Cerulean Blue, Raw umber, Burnt Sienna. Alizarin Crimson, Cadmium Red, and Titanium White.Yes, light and shadow play a pivotal role in landscapes. The position of the sunlight determines the shadows and light spots on your landscape. Pay attention to the direction of the light and accordingly adjust the intensity of colors in those areas. Also, figuring out the focal point in the landscape can help in focusing details and depth on that point. Can you provide some interesting facts about landscapes that I could incorporate into my art?

When we colour, our two hemispheres of the brain communicate with each other and generate a creative process, helping us to choose colours and stay inside the lines. As it happens, these secondary colours of Orange/Violet/Green form a harmonic triad that is very useful for landscapes, so I often use this as a starting point; I mix these 3 pools of colour and modify them as I progress through the painting. Our selection of seven wonderful pictures encourage children to focus their attention and also practice mindfulness. Print our clever landscape colouring pictures and take them on a walk near the sea, through the desert or to the countryside. Keep their attention and thoughts on the present moment and help them improve mood, focus and wellbeing. I prefer to mix my secondary hues (orange/violet/green) from my primaries, I find this helps to further my understanding of colour and adds harmony to a painting, not to mention saving money. If you’re looking to give your children some time to relax during the school day, you can use our ready to print Mindfulness Colouring Bookmarks. Let them express themselves and spark their interest about books with this original and unique bookmarks.

For example, if you want to teach them about minibeasts, you can try our amazing Minibeast Themed Colouring Sheets. We included a great variety of illustrations to enjoy at the end of a busy day or to use during a science lesson. Colors can drastically change the story behind an image. With a blue sky, emerald river, and houses painted in vibrant palettes, this town can be the best travel destination. I tend to always work with the same palette and squeeze the same colours regardless of the subject. I’ve been using the same selection of colours for the last 10 years and feel now that I’m comfortable with any mix my colours can make, which enables me to focus on the subject rather than worrying about which colour to use. For someone starting painting in plein air I would recommend using a limited palette, and gradually adding more colours over time once they are comfortable with their original selection (although they might well like to stay with a limited palette). I like to mix my own greens/oranges/purples. I find the result more natural and harmonious. Of course, some artists might prefer a discordant feel, where a deliberate imbalance is sought, instead. Start the day with a fun activity for your class and give the children a chance to focus on a simple and relaxing task. What I find fascinating is that nature does the same balancing, and so really we are just learning to see what has already been done by a far superior hand. Put on a cape and make sure the classroom becomes a better place with our Superheroes Colouring Sheets For Boys and Girls. This lovely set of colouring pictures features a selection of different images, all related to superheroes. It’s the tool you need to develop kids creativity and promote a stress-free learning environment. Our fantastic mindfulness colouring sheets are a brilliant resource for you to use with your class when teaching them about mindfulness. You can also use these colouring sheets with any under the sea topics! If the landscape can be painted with a limited palette then I will just squeeze out three to four colours; I much prefer to use fewer colours, but will slowly add more to the palette if I need to. The resource can also help children develop their motor skills and pencil control without focusing on handwriting. You can also use it in conjunction with a geography or art topic and make sure everyone is having fun. More resource to use alongside these landscape colouring pictures Using different colours and seeing them all the time helps kids gain awareness of lesser known colours.

Even if we’re not doing a difficult activity, like solving a maths problem, colouring still requires our brain to focus and put everything aside on that moment. Being required to focus on a task can help us with developing our concentration levels. Underpinning my choice is the use of two or (more often) three tints of each main colour, as follows: I use white mainly for skies, water, and to make colours muddier and less intense (like purples and greys). I avoid using white for highlights as the result is sometimes dull or lifeless. Instead, I prefer using Naples Yellow when possible. Colouring can be considered a type of meditation, because most of the time the process gives our mind a state of peace. That’s because when colouring, a part of our brain, the amygdala, just relaxes and allows our mind to get some rest. When children will start colouring, they will have troubles with keeping within the lines. As they progress and colour more often, the hand and eye coordination will improve, and they will learn to colour within the specified area.
