About this deal

A big missed opportunity for some much needed comic relief was when Peter was trapped in his own mind. Instead of using Peter’s personality as a flip side to Doc’s, most of Peter’s dialogue boils down to “Noooooo, Otto don’t do the thing you’re doing! I would never do that!” Every. Single. Time. Instead they take it super serious and the result is most of the book feeling incredibly dour. Sounds bad but you kind of have to shut your brain off and read it as dumb fun. Reading how Peter becomes a mad scientist, a fascist, and even a killer. I think what really satisfied me was the actual progressing story. You see the insane changes Otto makes as Peter and Spider-Man and it really does make you wonder why Peter hasn't done something like this. You see and learn about Otto's upbringing and how that effects his interactions with men and women. There isn't a giant plot following outside of Otto changing as Peter, but you do have an all stakes finale storyline. My main critique is actually with the final storyline as it feels pretty rushed. There's not enough time to feel the weight on Otto's shoulders and the of course obvious return of the true Peter. There's also just way too much going/being revealed on last minute that takes away time for what could've been used for a better Peter return. To clarify, this is like an 8.5 out of 10, but a Goodreads 5 star apparently means "I love it!" While 4 stars means "I really liked it" (at least on the desktop it says that) Spiderman'i alt etmek için kurulmuş süper kötüler grubu Sinister Six'in en son inkarnasyonu anlatılıyor kitapta ama beş kişiler, tam bir kaybedenler kulübünden ibaretler ve bunun bile dalgası var. Popüler kültürden, Marvel'a ve Spiderman'e dair mevzulardan ince ince beslenip ne kadar C-list karakter varsa olaya dahil eden, bunları yaparken insanı sesli güldürmeyi ziyadesiyle başaran, "eğlencelik işte" diyip geçemeyeceğiniz kadar eğlenceli bir çizgi roman. Simplistik ve detaya kasmayan çizimler sayesinde hiçbir şeyi kaçırmıyor, anlatıma kafa yormuyorsunuz, akıyor da gidiyor.

Superior Spider-Man Omnibus Vol. 1 (Hardcover)

I appreciate that this lasted 17 issues and had a definite ending that tied-up most of the plot points. No need to drag it out forever. Lot of great moments but also some equally as frustrating ones. The story boarding is better than the script, how the plot connects from one issue to the next will keep you compelled to keep reading but the dialogue may leave you wanting more. Ryan Stegman serves as the major artist for the run, and while he delivers action quite well, I personally don't find his style as appealing as it was during Cates' Venom run. There is a very "busy" feel to Stegman's designs that sometimes results in some inconsistent and sketchy panels. It often looks a bit like every other Marvel book at the time too - a shame for a series that is surprisingly unique in terms of concept. I'm sure more ardent Marvel/Spider-Man fans would enjoy the artwork here, but I was mostly unmoved by it.The art was good (definitely serviceable and it never bothered me, but it didn't exactly wow me, either). The story and characters were funny and exciting, with a large number of places that made me laugh out loud. There were even smaller plot threads or moments which added some nuance and depth to the story. Some of the most fun I've had with a Marvel comic in the last ten years. This is up there with the likes of Fraction & Aja's amazing Hawkeye run. Just when things started to go good for Peter Parker (for once), something bad happened. While visiting a dying Otto Octavius, Peter suddenly had his mind swapped with Otto's, allowing Otto to live and run around in Peter's body. But just before Peter died, Otto discovered the "true" meaning of "With great power comes great responsibility" via Peter's harrowing memories, so he decided to live up to Peter's legacy and become the Superior Spider-Man. This book had enough in the tank to keep me invested, which is something. But never enough to impress me or get a real laugh out of me.

Immaginate "Slevin: patto criminale" e "Fight Club" interpretati da supercriminali Marvel di serie z e vi sarete fatti un'idea. If you only want to take Spiderman seriously, you won't like this. But if you can laugh at the ridiculousness of it and don't mind spending time with some hilariously selfish characters, it's a real hoot. You don't need to know anything about these characters in advance. I didn't. But you might get more out of it if you do. The plot definitely kept moving, with plenty of twists and surprises. The characters were well-developed and entertaining--and, while bad, they were still sympathetic enough that their victories and losses meant something to me as a reader. Not only that, but it's where Slott's run really first became interesting to me. The Big Time era had a lot of recycled villains and felt like the same old Spider-Man stories you've read before. But Superior Spider-Man serves as a really fun counterbalance to that. You get to see Otto handle all the villains from Big Time in a much more decisive and satisfying way than Peter ever would. I also love how he handles J. Jonah Jameson and even Mary Jane (not as creepy as it sounds). And that's not to say you need to have read Big Time. Most of the villains here are classic ones you'll recognize from other Spider-Man media. I was a little disappointed in who the ultimate villain of the story was, but the execution was still pretty on point. I generally bought into the conclusion. I was on my "I have no enemies" arc, but after reading this, maybe I should grow up and go on my Otto arc and call everyone a dolt LMAO I can't elaborate more without spoiling, but even with the flaws this book has...man I love it. Not sure if I'll read more Superior Spider-Man because this does genuinely feel like a nice ending (though rushed).
