I liked this book a lot, it’s a great romp for YA readers and wonderfully written, a great diverse read. I love the natural formation of the trio who I hope will get up to many more adventures! I did not want to put this novel down. Ezra shows us the world of cadavers from the perspective of medical science, whilst the brave yet vulnerable Loveday introduces the mystery. Together they discover a web of intrigue. The book is both original and informative.

Today, the obstacle of modern medicine is the problem of one-sidedness. For example, the Human Genome Project, which deducted funding from all other research areas. Furthermore, the research was unilaterally pushed in one direction and paid too little attention to all different approaches and theories. Ironically, there are now no further results. On the contrary, the underestimated RNA played a much more significant role than expected. Subjectively speaking, one could have come to the conclusion earlier that the source code RNA has something to do with the software DNA. But whatever. This could be further excavated by other examples from recent history and the future will certainly unveil more bias. Ezra tells us his most peculiar adventure in a fashion that shows a mind brought up surrounded by reality and reason, where no laws are defied and common sense and logic are the rules that must be abided. The language and style were faithful to such a mind and showed great care and research on behalf of the very clever author. Every detail was delivered with some detachment; detachment that I would also expect in someone who has made the examination of death his business, and therefore no description appeared or transpired as gruesome or stomach churning. The critical eye delivered an accurate picture allowing both my mind and his to soak in the relevant information to attempt to solve the ever growing puzzle of bodies. In the retrospective, many things are unbelievable and it is difficult to gauge the suffering of the patients, or rather victims. But how did these questionable approaches devoid of any good clinical practice and scientific method develop? What were the causes of so many wrong turns? Catherine Johnson is a children’s novelist of Jamaican and Welsh heritage. She was born in London and much of Sawbones is set there. She writes stories with diverse characters in the middle of the action – including Ezra, the protagonist of Sawbones, who is a mixed-race former slave. This quote sums up the novel perfectly. In 1792, sixteen-year-old Ezra McAdam assists at the dissection table as a gifted apprentice to a high regarded London surgeon, learning how to reveal the secrets each body hides. His age is an estimate based on medical measurements as he, a mulatto of mixed race, was bought in Spanish Town by his master, Mr McAdam. The skills he learns as a surgeon’s apprentice will serve him well for life. Es eröffnet eine sehr wahrscheinliche Option. Sawbones won the Young Quills Award for best historical fiction for under-12s in 2014, the year after it was published. Johnson also wrote a sequel, Blade and Bone (2016), which takes Ezra and Loveday from London to 18 th century Paris, where the dangerous French Revolution is well underway. The problem is twofold: it's basically a retread of the show so far, with very little new material; and it tries too hard to capture the essence of the show, which is the bantering dynamic between Sydnee [pause for cheers to die down] and Justin. But that dynamic doesn't translate to print well, or at least, it has not here.

If these were any other content creators besides the McElroys, there is no way this book would have such a high rating on Goodreads. I understand that folks are enthusiastic to support them - I am too - but such a high rating is extremely dishonest because the construction and editing of the book is so unforgivably flawed. I can't believe someone actually made the decision to ship out the books in this state. It feels like they're taking advantage of the fans' willingness to forgive the creators, and that is bad business. New for 2020!
