About this deal

This buttonizer session storagevalue will only be made when a menu button is using the Open menu and close on first loadsetting. The session storage value is used to remember which group has triggered this setting so that it only trigger once per session. Compliant standards: the product meets numerous safety regulations, EMC/RF, and environmental standards Next, we connected a laptop to the input port and a monitor to the pass-thru port on the NUC. We launched OSB Studio on the NUC and configured it to connect to the capture card. We recorded a few minutes of video streaming from the laptop, then compared the captured content to the original content and could not detect any difference. The Intel NUC 11 Extreme not only looks the part with RGB lighting but is also able to keep up with any benchmark you throw at it. With an 11th-gen Core i9 processor that features 8 cores and 16 threads as well as support for a top-of-line graphics card, this little box can rival performances of much larger towers. The one big change I made? I turned off the skull on the front, leaving all of the lighting on the bottom. Intel really needs a nicer logo for these gaming-grade NUCs.

The Intel NUC 11 Pro does have very good connectivity with its USB and Thunderbolt connectors. For storage, it supports an M.2 2240 SATA/PCIe slot which would be good for a boot device, and a PCIe 4 X4 M.2 2280 slot for high-performance storage. The CPU has an integrated Image Processing Unit (IPU), which is a co-processor that was initially designed to improve video capture images and video quality. Lately, AI and ML applications have been leveraging IPUs to increase performance. To evaluate the device’s performance, we ran a SPECworkstation 3 benchmarking test on it and then compared the results to other NUC systems that we have tested. The full review for the other NUC system can be found here, here and here. When it came to Far Cry New Dawn, things looked up. The NUC's 3060 was just a few frames away from the iBuypower at 1080p and ultra settings. It was also above that 30-fps playability threshold at 4K, albeit not as close to the competitors as it was at the lower resolution.

The CPU has integrated Intel Iris Xe graphics which operate at 400 MHz with a burst frequency of 1.35 GHz. The GPU has 96 Execution Units (EUs). The TDP and RAM are shared between the CPU and GPU. Invariably, Intel’s new NUC 11 Pro will be compared to its predecessor the NUC 10 Pro, as these NUCs were designed for similar use cases. Below is a comparison of the key hardware components of these two systems as well as a NUC 8, NUC 9 Pro, and NUC 10 CE that we previously reviewed. FeatureIn Q1 2021, Intel launched their NUC 11 line of systems which come equipped with 11 th Gen Intel Core processors and are broken into four different categories: Enthusiast (Phantom Canyon), Performance (Panther Canyon), Pro (Tiger Canyon), and Compute Element (Elk Bay). Each one of these categories is unique and built for a different type of user in mind; for example, the Compute Element, which we previously reviewed , was designed for light gaming, home theater, and content creation. On the other hand, the Intel NUC 11 Pro unit, which we will be reviewing in this article, was designed for edge computing, and home and office use.

Similar to its predecessor, the NUC 9 Extreme Kit, the NUC 11 Extreme Kit fits into a very small case. And while you can upgrade it in many ways similar to a desktop, the process is a bit different here. As this was the first NUC that we received with a 2.5GbE NIC in it we were curious as to how well it would perform. As we didn’t have another system with an onboard 2.5GbE NIC we attached a CableCreation USB 3.0 to 2.5 Gigabit LAN Ethernet Cable Adapter to the NUC 11 CE that we previously reviewed. We connected the two NUCs together using a MikroTik CRS305-1G-4S+IN 10GbE 5-Port Desktop Switch using Cat 6 cables. Intel NUC NUC11PAQ 11 th generation just keeps getting better. This is the Intel/Windows equivalent of the Mac-mini. I am not a Mac user, but spec for spec, it offers more connectivity and faster disk and comms speeds.

We've got your results!

We then used iperf3 to test the bandwidth between the two systems. The results showed a transfer rate of 2.37 Gbps.

Noise varies from a whisper to about 35dB, but we heard it go louder on 100% load to around 50dB. Power use is quite good. Under load, it reached 400W, but most of the time, it was about half that. In cost terms, less than 20 cents an hour. The latest Intel i7-11375H (desktop) has a 5GHz Turbo. This only runs in larger form factor desktops and is an average 14% faster. The real difference no TDP constraint and 37% faster at maximum speed. Graphics – 30% faster than Intel UHD More information on the NUC 11 kit is located here. Intel’s Product Compatibility Tool for the NUC 11 is located here. The Intel NUC 11 Extreme Kit takes a bit from both schools. It is a small, 8-liter size that takes up very little space. But with Intel's Compute Element, you can still upgrade your PC, adding more storage and RAM (though the latter uses components designed for laptops). And this design can fit longer, full-sized GPUs, so it's less limited on that front than Intel's older model, the NUC 9 Extreme Kit (Ghost Canyon). Perhaps the biggest compromise is that Intel is using 65W CPUs, while desktop versions can go up to 125W. At 14.06 x 7.44 x 4.72 inches, this PC is a bit larger than its previous design, but also fits more GPUs and still fits very easily on a desk. The Corsair One a200 takes up less desk space, but is taller at 7.87 x 6.93 x 14.96 inches. Both are smaller than mid-towers like the iBuypower Element CL Pro (18.1 x 18.1 x 8.5 inches). Why would you remove the Compute Element at all? For future upgrades. If at another time, Intel releases a new Element with a faster CPU and support for more/better RAM or storage, you could slot that in here. We have also reviewed other NUCs, including the NUC 7 CJYS , a low-priced system powered by an Intel Celeron J4005 processor that we ended up installing IGEL and Wyse VDI client software on and used to connect to our virtual desktops. A more powerful NUC we reviewed was the NUC 8 i7BEH, which we installed ESXi on after our initial review and we currently use as an ESXi host. Both systems have been working extremely well for their assigned roles. We also reviewed a NUC 9 Pro which had a Xeon processor and discrete GPU, and ESXi running on it. These examples highlight the flexibility and range of uses that NUCs provide.
