It even has a similar first sighting when they all walk in to the club together but instead of gossipy teenagers pretending not to pay attention, it was tipsy college kids straining to have a look at them or to be noticed by them. The end of days might be over for our newlyweds, but the dark nights are closing in and what lies waiting in the shadows is what even nightmares are afraid of. I also really enjoyed switching between the narratives of different characters every so often, it kept the book engaging, whilst also drawing me even further in when the previous character’s section had been left on a cliff hanger.These are the questions both sides face in a race against time, truth and the life they are all trying to save.

The author is an investigative journalist, and her essays are dense with in-depth, picked-apart examinations of claims of paranormal phenomena.Not a complaint, as I like long stories (though some editing would be nice for streamlining), but on what planet is this 436 pages? Regardless of how many pages AFTERLIFE does or doesn't have, I can attest that it felt like 800 pages, so make of that what you will.

The only good thing about the book is reading two paragraphs or a page puts me to sleep on nights where I am struggling (I know sounds harsh but it is the truth), for that reason it's staying on my kindle.Her poems come out of life's dailiness – as a wife, mother, teacher, an expatriate between languages, a brilliant translator of ancient and modern Greek.
