About this deal

I occupy one small corner of a large suite of offices that house the California Fidelity Insurance Company, for whom I once worked. The Kinsey Millhone stories, with one exception, appeared in magazines and mystery anthologies between 1986 and 1991. MacDonald's Travis McGee series, each of which included a color in the title, and Harry Kemelman's Rabbi Small series, each of which included a day of the week in the title.

A is for Alibi by Sue Grafton is a gripping mystery novel featuring private investigator Kinsey Millhone. Moartea sa a fost dorita asadar de foarte multe persoane insa Nikki a fost cea gasita vinovata de aceasta fapta si a facut 8 ani de inchisoare pentru crima savarsita din gelozie. Readers appreciate her buoyant style, her eye for detail, her deft hand with character, her acute social observances, and her abundant storytelling prowess. After graduating, Grafton worked as a hospital admissions clerk, a cashier, and a medical secretary in Santa Monica and Santa Barbara, California.I'd have liked to have a follow-up and longer ending that shows the after-effects, especially Nikki learning what really went down that fateful night years ago, but oh well. Published 2020) An unpublished story found among Sue Grafton's papers by her husband after her death and originally published in ’Deadly Anniversaries, edited by Marcia Muller and Bill Pronzini . Even if we find out who did it, we have to make it stick and that could be tough after all this time. Kinsey is a tough, twice-divorced, former cop with her own detective agency situated adjacent to an insurance company in Santa Teresa, California. A is for Alibi joins her with two mysterious marriages behind her and as she is asked by a convicted murderess to investigate her husband's death - and find the real killer.

Although I like pretty much anything with a bit of mystery, I really like those strong, female heroines like VI Warshawski and Temperance Brennan, so I don't quite know why it's taken me this long to discover Sue Grafton's detective Kinsey Millhone. New York Times-bestselling author Sue Grafton is published in twenty-eight countries and twenty-six languages--including Estonian, Bulgarian, and Indonesian. The writing style puts in enjoyable humor in serious situations, but it's mainly kept to the point and focused on the story at hand. Orphaned as a child and twice divorced, she lives a quiet, solitary life, eschewing the kinds of possessions and personal connections that most people take for granted. Grafton said that the series would end with "Z" Is for Zero, but she died before she could begin writing it. Thirty years later, Kinsey is an established international icon and Sue, a number-one bestselling author. Now, eight years later and out on parole, Nikki Fife hires Kinsey Millhone to find out who really killer her husband.
