About this deal

That is why I’m here: tidying. It’s nothing to do with the fact that Louis Keele is currently powering up and down the swimming pool, waiting for Izzy to arrive for their ... plans. Their arrangement. Their date?

I know why he’s asking. It’s not because he particularly wants a beer. It’s because he wants Izzy to see me fetch him one.The Wake-Up Call by Beth O'Leary is a fun read. O'Leary's writing style engaged me throughout the book. My eagerness to read from chapter to chapter was kept alive by clever dialogue and entertaining plot twists. I was somewhat disappointed with this because I'd thought The Flat Share was a cute story and since this is so obviously for the Christmas market I thought it might be the same sort of rom-com, sweet story with a bit of an edge. There is no denying I love Beth O'Leary's writing. Bonus points for this one being unexpectedly set around the holiday season! But this particular story didn't work for me. Beth O’Leary is that rare, one-in-a-million talent who can make you laugh, swoon, cry and ache all in the same book’ Emily Henry

The whole Ring Thing was just plain stupid. They should have kept the rings, sold them, used the money to fix the hotel and moved on...Problem solved. If they loved the hotel so much why wasn't that plan put into place right away? Bottom line, this was just too cutesy for my personal taste but I am glad I finally gave this author a go...it is my year of thinking outside the box as far as giving different genres go, and I can't expect all of them to work for me. I started late today, so I am staying late, too. That is only reasonable. And the seating areas dotted around the pool badly need tidying. There are magazines here from a time when all the UK had to worry about was whether a man named Jeremy Clarkson had or had not punched someone. Thank you NetGalley and Berkley Publishing Group for the opportunity to review this cheerful and cozy book. The book mentions sex, but it is a closed door romance without graphic content. Adult readers will find the material suitable.

A gorgeous read that expertly and deftly takes us away from our everyday lives and plunges us into the fun, heartfelt and engrossing world of Beth O’Leary’s talent. She is a master of her craft.”―Salma El-Wardany, author of These Impossible Things
