About this deal

The Odyssey OLED G8 will be available globally from Q4 2022, with launch schedules varying by region. This monitor also has some compatibility issues with GPU's ports. Both HDMI and DP. The problem is when you power down your PC and the monitor goes into standby mode, it has to be powered up manually with its remote each time you power up your PC. Other specifications include instantaneous response time, infinite contrast ratio, 150-nits full-field white and 450-nits peak brightness for SDR, 1000-nits peak for 3% white window in HDR, 98.5% DCI-P3 gamut coverage and Delta E < 1 factory calibration.

This issue relates to a software problem and is only temporary. The service is expected to be resumed by early August. As soon as a software update becomes available, please update your software to reinstate the Game Hub service. How did the display do in our lab tests? When we pointed our Klein-10A colorimeter at it, we found that the Odyssey OLED G8’s screen achieved an average brightness of 240 nits of brightness in Standard mode. That’s on par with the Alienware AW3423DWF (236 nits) but much dimmer than the Acer Predator X32 FP (404 nits) in their respective standard modes. That said, the Odyssey OLED G8 achieved 357 nits of HDR brightness across 10 percent of the display in our testing, which is fairly bright. And oh, that color! I just couldn’t stop playing when presented with such vibrant saturation. The Samsung OLED G8 is one of the most colorful monitors I’ve ever used.At the moment, there’s an issue that limits peak brightness to ~450-nits with AMD GPUs when using FreeSync Premium Pro. Hopefully, it will be resolved with a firmware update soon. For the pro gamer and the novice, Samsung designs its latest Odyssey gaming monitor to transform your experience. Enter: the OLED G85SB. Crafted for maximum quality, the Neo Quantum Processor ensures crystal-clear imagery so that your favourite worlds, dungeons, and environments are rendered like never before. If that wasn’t enough, the 34-inch screen boasts a 0.1ms response time & 175hz refresh rate, so you can bid goodbye to buffering and say hello to near-instant reaction time. Updated the firmware to 1442 and retested the HDR Brightness, which isn't different compared to before the update. Also confirmed that 4k @ 60Hz works on the PS5, but only if you disable Game Mode. It’s a good thing the user manuals are built into the monitor because I had to refer to them several times to discover hidden functions and shortcuts. The remote would really benefit from an input selector button. And when input menus show up on the screen they don’t say “HDMI” or “DisplayPort” but rather, they attempt to identify the connected device. This form factor is basically equivalent to two 24.5″ 2560×1440 displays side by side – just without the bezels in between them. So, you get a high 119.52 PPI (pixels per inch) for sharp details and text.

Pixel Shift: This feature moves the entire image a few pixels to one side and gradually shifts it in a different direction over time. This helps reduce the effects of burn-in from very small elements, like fine lines in a game HUD. Added in the Introduction that the Samsung Odyssey OLED G9/G95SC S49CG95 is Samsung's second QD-OLED monitor. bit colour over hdmi 2.1 looks absolutely fantastic. When playing games the contrast and colours is fantastic. You can do 175hz 10bit colour with the included display port, but opted for hdmi with no downgrade in colour from 12bit to 10bit.An obvious comparison with the new Samsung G8QNB is the Alienware AW3423DW, the first commercially available QD-OLED monitor, that uses the same Samsung panel. A few things that could make a significant difference: The monitor also has an sRGB clamp that can be activated by changing the Color Space option to ‘Auto.’ In the Support menu, you’ll find manuals for everything including the remote. You can also run screen conditioning programs like pixel shift and refresh. If you need a firmware update, that can be done here as well. My sample updated itself the first time I fired it up. Samsung OLED G8 Calibration Settings Added the LG 27GR95QL, the League of Legends version of the LG 27GR95QE 1440p 240Hz OLED gaming monitor. We uploaded the latest brightness measurements and uniformity photos for the Accelerated Longevity Test.

Last year in August we brought you detailsabout this emerging panel technology from Samsung, a rival to the common OLED panels produced by LG.Display and used across the OLED TV market. Samsung’s QD-OLED (Quantum Dot OLED) uses organic OLED material as the light source and Quantum Dot (QD) material as a film. It will be more similar to Samsung’s own AMOLED used for mobile phones and LG’s OLED TVs and will mark the company’s return to the OLED segment. There, you’ll find all the traditional controls plus two and 20-point white balance, gamma presets, color gamut options, color management and a few other tweaks. I didn’t have to calibrate the OLED G8, but I adjusted the Shadow Detail slider to fix a minor gamma error. You can select between the native color gamut which covers over 108% of DCI-P3 or Custom which selects sRGB for SDR content. Choosing Auto from this menu switches the color gamut automatically between SDR and HDR signals. I love the ultra wide set up. I know it's not for everyone, but I've wanted an ultra wide for a good while and I'm very happy with how it looks and feels.

If you have recently experienced issues with the Samsung Game Hub, where the Game Hub disappears from Samsung Home, or when attempting to run a game, or the error message “(app name) has been terminated and is no longer available” displays, please do not be concerned. Samsung is aware of the issue and have begun taking steps to resolve the problem. After firmware update 1442, the EOTF follows the target curve well until there's a slow roll-off at the peak brightness, meaning it preserves details well in bright scenes, and it performs the same whether you have HDR10+ Gaming set to 'Basic' or 'Advanced'. Before the update, the EOTF was similar, but the roll-off happened earlier. There's also a separate setting called Game HDR that boosts the EOTF when enabled, as you can see here. While firmware 1442 improved the EOTF, it didn't change the monitor's peak brightness. For the best HDR results on the Samsung Odyssey OLED G8, we recommend using the ‘Custom’ Picture Mode and making sure ‘Game Mode’ and ‘Peak Brightness’ options are enabled. ‘Game HDR’ should be disabled and ‘HDR10+ Gaming’ set to ‘Advanced.’ However, if you work with a lot of text, you might find it bothersome. You can use Better ClearType and Mac/FreeType to alleviate this issue in some applications. Gaming was incredibly addictive. The Samsung OLED G8, like all OLEDs, has next-level video processing with no need for overdrive or strobing to achieve perfect motion resolution. Whether viewing Blur Busters test patterns or mowing through monsters in Doom Eternal, the screen responded instantly to control inputs and detail in both near and far views remained razor sharp. This is enhanced by the panel’s tremendous contrast which makes rendered objects look truly three-dimensional.

Added the LG 45GR65DC and 45GR75DC 44.5″ 5120×1440 200Hz super-ultrawide curved VA gaming monitors. How does that compare to other gaming monitors? In its Standard mode, the AW3423DWF covered 180% of the sRGB color gamut and 127% of the DCI-P3 gamut, with a Delta-E value of 0.24. The Predator X32 FP’s display achieved 226% of the sRGB color gamut and 160% of the DCI-P3 color gamut, with a Delta-E value of 0.26. In short, the Odyssey OLED G8’s brightness and color accuracy aren’t far off from the competition. Samsung Odyssey OLED G8 review: Performance Sorry, rant over - I honestly was working on her setup and wanted to destory both of the G70B's moments before I saw this. OLED & Neo Quantum ProcessorWith the advanced Neo Quantum Processor, every frame on the OLED panel is instantly analysed and optimised for maximum quality. Colours, shades and contrast unify to deliver bright and brilliant picture at all times. So far so good, I'm really enjoying the monitor and the amazing picture has me absolutely mesmerized!Panel Care: Has features to reduce the risk of burn-in associated with OLEDs, which you can read about below. Additionally, the monitors will feature G-SYNC Ultimate and have a 576-zone full-array local dimming solution. Other specs include a 98% DCI-P3 color gamut and DisplayHDR 1000 certification. The internal speakers are of good quality and included multiple sound modes along with some user tweaks like balance and eq. The OLED G8 supports Dolby Atmos sound which normally requires at least seven speakers. But here, some clever phasing effects do a decent job of expanding the sound envelope. Dolby Atmos is most notably supported by Netflix and Apple TV+. The OLED G8 supports AirPlay which means you can stream music and video to it from a phone or tablet. The ultra-wide, QHD resolution (3,440 x 1,440) gaming monitor has a 21:9 aspect ratio with 100% color volume and DCI-99.3% color gamut for incredible visuals regardless of the game being played. This is enhanced by a million-to-one static contrast ratio to bring out the most subtle details for enhanced immersion and 1800R curvature for the perfect playing view.
