She can't remember just what happened to her child, Zander, but he's dead and she's being blamed for his death . . . . She is unsure but feels that something is wrong . . . there are secrets . . . . but she doesn't know what they are, who is keeping them or what will happen if they're uncovered. Her lovely life is in turmoil, everything has changed. Who can she trust? Who is telling the truth? Why are there so many lies? Who really caused Zander's death? Is she guilty? I’m going to start of by saying that this is a top-notch psychological thriller. It’s got everything you want: keeps your attention from the get-go, intriguing characters, suspense, an epilogue to give you chills, and that big plot-twist that you’ll never see coming. You may see guilt as a negative emotion, which leads to other negative emotions. But you can also try turning guilt into gratitude. Studies show that guilt can help you do things that are morally right. Guilt can make you honest. So whenever you are feeling guilty, try to look at it in a positive way. Learn to appreciate that guilt because it will help you grow as a person. Sincerely apologizing still helps you heal, though, since it offers you the chance to express your feelings and hold yourself accountable after messing up. Since people who suffer from chronic self-blame constantly feel shame and guilt, they are exceptionally susceptible to manipulation. The manipulator can always appeal to their false sense of responsibility, or blame them for something, or shame them to get what they want.

I am not going to say anymore as I don’t want to give the plot away, but this is a very riveting and powerful story. I loved it. All I can say is read this book… I don’t think you will be disappointed.

It’s natural to feel guilty when you know you’ve done something wrong. But guilt can also take root in response to events you didn’t have much, or anything, to do with. Thats why you often find narcissism(or dark personality traits) next to codependency. These relationship patterns are frequently talked about in tandem. Narcissistic people tend to manipulate and abuse others, and codependent people tend to be manipulated and abused. An accomplice who is called to give evidence who has not previously been required to plead guilty to his or her own part in the offence(s) may incriminate himself or herself in the course of their testimony. Where this happens and either I was completely gripped in this story, told from various viewpoints, about a mother's worst nightmare.Gruber-K S, et al. (2019). Collective guilt, moral outrage, and support for helping the poor: A matter of system versus in-group responsibility framing. [Abstract]. They said it was her fault, the worst mother in the world. And even worse, Thea had memory loss since that tragic day! Even her friends and family think she is a monster. Maybe you find it difficult to be honest, and someone finally caught you in a lie. Perhaps you want to spend more time with your family, but something always gets in the way.

Where the evidence of an accomplice is to be used, there is no requirement in law for the judge to give the jury a warning about it. However, the judge has discretion to give a direction where he or she thinks it is advisable to do so. Charging an Accomplice to a crimeA sincere apology can help you begin repairing damage after a wrongdoing. By apologizing, you convey remorse and regret to the person who was hurt, and let them know how you plan to avoid making the same mistake in the future.

This compelling thriller is a story about three women from different social standings, Thea,Annabelle and Thea's ex personal assistant Flora who is now working for Annabelle. There is also Thea's ex husband Robert and their young daughter Nell. Thea's best friend Isla, Annabelle's husband Greg and their children Millie and Ollie. Many of these characters wouldn't have known how to tell the truth even if their lives depended on it. Most but not all of them were flawed and not very likeable. I really wanted to feel some sympathy for Thea as her life feel apart around her but she really didn't help herself at times. I did feel a lot of sympathy for one of the women and the poor children who found themselves caught up in the lives of these so called responsible adults. We,Humans are many things but we are definitely not infallible,we do make mistakes. Some are tiny and inconsequential and some have major consequences and can affect more than just one person.Do something new or try something you have never tried before. Focusing your mind on a new skill can help you think about something other than your feelings of guilt. Create goals and work toward achieving them. Refocus your thoughts on something positive. Instead of dwelling on what is making you feel guilty, focus on achieving your goals. The second book in the series is called The Deadline and sees Cora called to the scene of a murder and finding that the victim is someone that she knows and that the alleged murderer is one of her close friends. Cora finds herself convinced of her friend’s innocence and fighting to prove it. Accomplices are not competent witnesses for the prosecution where charged in the same proceedings.
