About this deal

like the telly programme did, which whilst seems obvious, was one of the main reasons I loved watching two old men fishing. After both underwent heart operations / heart procedures, Paul Whitehouse, a keen angler, suggested fishing trips as a way of recuperating, getting out of the house, enjoying the countryside and partaking of a hobby that is mentally relaxing. She didn’t have long left at that time, and when something like this happens, you realise you have to drink from it while you can. I could probably just go and sit next to a river-no need to even think about fishing-to get the same kick.

He's got his nose buried in the book and keeps sniggering and laughing out loud, so I guess that's a good sign.My main gripes concerned the actual physical book: there were a few typos that seemed a little too easy, and the black and white photographs were really poorly printed. Paul Whitehouse and Bob Mortimer have been working in British comedy for over 30 years and are considered legends of the business. As presenter of Radio 4's Today, the nation's most popular news programme, he is famed for his tough interviewing, his deep misgivings about authority in its many forms, and his passionate commitment to a variety of causes. I need to work on giving myself permission to leave the house more often and stare at trees in different locations. So they dusted off their kits, chucked on their waders and ventured into the achingly beautiful British countryside to fish, rediscover the joys of their friendship and ruminate on some of life's most profound questions, such as: How did we get so old? Bringing their own unique and counter-balanced personalities to proceedings they ask questions such as: what is happiness? Do you feel weighed down by stress and pressure, held back by judgement and lack of opportunity, and critcised by everyone – including yourself? It's the perfect bridge from the television programme to the book, and it sits in between them so perfectly.

Horrifying, heartbreaking and eye-opening, these are the stories, the patients and the cases that have characterised a career spent behind bars. The audiobook also has a section where they recorded themselves actually fishing, which was strange to listen to. Punctuated by brilliant stories, beautiful illustrations by Carys Reilly-Whitehouse, and recollections from fishing day trips past, How We Fish is the perfect tome for the veteran fisherman or the budding angler - warm, funny and rich in the wonders of the riverbank.
