Mandy invites everyone to a fireworks display at the Floods on Bonfire Night. She and Norman are so busy doing firework impressions, they don't realise that they are scaring Lion. It can also be assumed that Sam's surname in the CGI series "Jones" was given to him in honour of David Jones for creating the character. The surname "Jones" was also used in Joshua Jones, another TV series that David Jones worked on with Rob Lee.

John Alderton - Sam Jones, Elvis Cridlington, Station Officer Steele, Penny Morris, Trevor Evans, Dilys Price, Bella Lasagne, Norman Price, Sarah Jones, and James Jones (1987-1994) In some early Fireman Sam story books, that had specially drawn illustrations, Fireman Sam was given brown eyes for unknown reasons. Norman forgets about his mother's birthday, so he tries to plan a party for her with Sarah and Mandy, but everything goes wrong when he tries to take charge and leaves the cake in the oven for too long after setting the timer incorrectly. TV Stardom comes to Station Officer Steele and everyone in Pontypandy is eager to watch his interview on fire safety.

Most of the original episodes have been made available on VHS previously (in the United Kingdom by BBC Video in 1988–2001 and in the United States and Canada by Family Home Entertainment), but apart from a VHS version of Action Stations, these are all now out of print. It has been available on DVD by Hit Entertainment in the United Kingdom from 2004 to 2016 and Abbey Home Media from 2017 onward due to a pact with DHX Media (Later WildBrain). Here is a list of the UK releases. James tries his hand at cooking pizzas for Gareth's railway gala, but makes too many and tries to cook all of them at the same time, only to start a fire in the cafe, and then Hannah's house. Norman and Hannah are inspecting a strange sound in the woods. However, it isn't as scary as a forest fire. Voice actors joining the cast were Alex Lowe, who voices Ben and Joe, and Jo Wyatt, who voices Lizzie and Hannah. A new location - the 'Whole Fish Café' was added, which functions similarly to Bella's cafe from past series and is run by Charlie and Bronwyn, also functioning as their home. The Fire Station is refreshed with a double-door design, allowing for Jupiter and Venus to exit at the same time, as well as it becoming multi-floored. Dilys' shop was also turned from a simple corner store into a 7-Eleven-esque convenience store called the "Cut-Price-Supermarket".
