It’s difficult to go into detail about the plot without giving away spoilers, so this review will be a brief one. I was so thrilled that this gripped me from the first chapter, with clever twists and turns keeping the pages turning in anticipation. Steve Cavanagh’s Eddie Flynn is something of a cross between John Grisham’s Mitch McDeere of The Firm and Frank Galvin of The Verdict. After doing something that while ‘right’ was not ‘legal’ she left the force completely and we now have the pleasure of her company as an investigator for Eddie Flynn.Over the years, he worked in various legal-related fields, such as Personal Injury Law, Discrimination Law, Judicial Review, and Employment Law, while also giving lectures within Ireland and England in all sorts of legal fields, including being a leading civil rights lawyer in Northern Ireland. Suffice to say no one is who they say they are or who they appear to be except perhaps the dogged police officers who just know they are being lied to and that something is not right with pretty much every scenario they are presented with. I am a huge fan of mind bending thrillers where most of the enjoyment comes from solving the riddle or puzzle before its revealed. To my shame, this is the first book I have read by Steve Cavanagh – I’ve seen so many positive reviews for his previous books and now I can see why. There were 2 of them but I let go of the first one because miracles happen in the medical field, the second I couldn't let go.
