Let’s start with the biggest complaint people have. That is it looks like “I have a goiter or a blob on my face”. If this is you, you used too much. Seriously when they say a Little goes a long way, they really mean it. I have a deep indentation so I kept thinking a glob will do and the texture pad should flatten out any excess. Bad idea. A glob with the texture pad often lifts pieces in the middle, creating strange craters. When I reduced the amount of silicone and feathered out with the applicator tools, I was finally able to fix the weird glob look. If you lift the texture pad and still get craters, you can fill it in. I suggest using a applicator tip only for when you get holes in your dermaflage after the pad. The silicone dries too fast for you to transfer and fill in the holes. Next problem, none of the colours match!!! Get two different applicator colours! I am neutral pale. Fair was too dark. Golden fair was too yellow. Porcelain was too pink! I had to mix Golden fair with porcelain. Golden fair with fair also worked too to give myself the perfect colour match. Tip! Refrigerate before mixing two different colours to give more working time!Dermaflage is a life saver! I feel as though dermaflage gets a bad rap because there is a STEEP learning curve but DONT GIVE UP! I went through 4 applicators until I perfected my technique. There are others who are faster at learning but it took me 4 because I have a larger and deeper area than most people. If you have shallow scars I’m certain you can perfect it with one applicator. I’ve literally tried everything from fillers to scar wax. Fillers is too expensive and I almost had necrosis so I stopped and tried looking for an alternative. Scar wax crinkles and looks fake on areas where there is muscle movement. Only dermaflage moves with my skin. I also tried diy silicone makeup and it was unnatural because it always looked shiny. The texture pad is where the magic is at! With the dermaflage texture pad, the silicone will have skin like texture. I was embarrassed and distressed by my appearance. I tried everything, even went to a well known makeup artist. I could never hide the scar, I would end up with a heavy caked look, that frankly looked worse than the scar. It’s best to not use any makeup on top of Dermaflage (no liquid, powder, cream, etc.). Dermaflage is tinted but translucent and allows your natural skin tone to shine through (which is why it looks so life-like on the skin) so putting makeup on top opaques the Dermaflage out and makes it look like a patch on the skin.
