About this deal

Avengers Disassembled: Daredevil appears in Avengers #501-503. See Marvel Universe Events: Avengers Disassembled Collects Daredevil #133-143; Annual #4; Ghost Rider #20; Marvel Premiere #39-40; material from Ghost Rider #19 Daredevil: The Man Without Fear – the famous retelling of Daredevil’s origin story by Frank Miller and illustrated by John Romita Jr. The brief intro arc from Bendis was added to the finale of his run to fill out this final hardcover. The Man Without Fear: An updated Daredevil origin story that is very good. My only complaint is that Elektra is supposed to be around college age and she looks like a 60 year old with bad plastic surgery.

This companion contains many different stories and arcs, so it is unlike the main omnibus in the fact that its not continuos. Collects Daredevil (1964) #182-191 and material from Elektra Saga #1-4 and The Official Handbook of the Marvel Universe (1983).Frank Miller is one of the seminal creative talents who sparked the current gigantic sub-industry of motion pictures featuring comic book- initiated product. A sub-industry which had become a super-industry. This most profitable aspect of this millennium’s film production, now producing an annual flow of box office profits in the Billions of dollars, was launched when Frank Miller’s graphic novel re-take on the classic comic book hero, Batman, resulted in an entertainment industry-wide reconsideration of the genre in the deeper and darker vision Miller brought to it.

Annual 1: Collected in Omnibus (above) and Hell to Pay Vol. 2 (below), but not in the Ultimate Collection. The event Civil War takes more or less placesimultaneously/after “The Devil Takes A Ride” arc (DD #89-93). It helps understand why there are two Daredevils.

Product details

After #185: Dazzler #21, Contest of Champions #1-3, Hulk #277-299, Marvel Two-in-One #96, Marvel Team-Up #123, Marvel Fanfare #7 Daredevil by Frank Miller & Klaus Janson– The most iconic run on Daredevil, which redefines The Man Without Fear. Some stories have more "mature" themes compared to other superhero stories (such as drug abuse) so I would not recommend the book for young children or even early teens. However, the content is more PG than R rated in my opinion because of the way the stories are told. I cannot elaborate because I may give away spoilers. But I think that this is important to mention for parents who may have children who like to read superhero comics. Brian Bendis was still relatively new to Marvel when he took on Daredevil (and the contemporaneous Alias) in 2001, his only notable work to that point being a the Daredevil: Ninja miniseries and the launch of Ultimate Spider-Man a few months prior. By the middle of the run, Bendis was on his way to becoming Marvel’s prohibitive star writer as he also took over Avengers with his infamous Disassembled arc. Collected alongside the Secret Wars II nine-issue limited series and a slew of connected stories from across the Marvel Universe
