About this deal

CND Solar Oil Cuticle Conditioning Treatment is an award-winning favorite among nail professionals and clients. If you’re a keen extension wearer (hard gel or acrylic) then cuticle oil keeps the material ever so slightly flexible. Although this might not sound like a good thing because you want to keep your nails strong and sturdy, it actually does just that. If your nails aren’t flexible, they’re more prone to chipping and breaking.

It's fair to say that I'm really into nails. I'm constantly painting my own (and friends'), quizzing the nail pros on their hot tips, and looking to improve on my skills. Basically, I talk about nails a lot. And in those conversations, the one thing I'm often asked is how I keep my nails fairly long and (for the most part) healthy-looking. One of the main ways? Cuticle oil. And lots of it. Repeated use drives nutrients in deeper, creating: stronger, healthier nails and hydrated cuticle area. While there are many great ingredients in cuticle oils, jojoba oil and vitamin E are the top two to look for to help nourish skin, Lim says. For the best application, she suggests placing a small amount of oil at the base of the nail and along the sides, then gently rubbing it in. Follow by smoothing on a hand cream for a complete hand and nail treatment. Lim recommends applying it twice a day, but there is not such thing as "too much" when it comes to cuticle oil: More really is better. Dehydrated and brittle nails are more prone to breaking or chipping, so keep nails nourished by applying oil-based cuticle products and hand creams daily," says session manicurist, Ami Streets. "Apply a drop on each cuticle before massaging it in. Nighttime is best, as it gives the oil time to be properly absorbed," she says. Taking time to massage the oil in will encourage blood circulation, which will help boost the health of your nails and cuticles overs time too. The key to actually keeping up the habit of cuticle oil all lies in the formula and the application method. That’s why I always recommend CND to people. It’s a non-greasy formula that doesn’t feel suffocating or get in the way.

Repeated use actually drives the oils deeper in the natural nail, for results that only get better with time.

Apply cuticle oil. "There are several different applicators that cuticle oil can come with," Saunders says. "It's ideally applied to each cuticle on each finger and rubbed in, and is recommended after each hand washing but could also be applied as often as you like." If your cuticle oil doesn't come with an applicator, you can dab a few drops on with a cotton ball. CND''s award-winning and innovative products are available in the world''s finest salons and spas. Clean cuticles. Carefully wash hands concentrating on nail beds and fingertips. You can soften the cuticle by letting them soak in warm, soapy water (just like at the nail salon) several times a week. Jojoba Oil carries the Vitamin E deeply into the skin, reducing visible signs of aging and keeping hands soft and supple. I keep a bottle of cuticle oil by my bed, at my desk at work (or these days, at home), and even in the car (not applying while driving though, of course). You'll find me rubbing the stuff into my cuticles on many occasions throughout the day. Seems like a lot of work, doesn't it? And, well, it is. But for me, it's worth it for the joy I get painting my long nails and prolonging the life of my manicures.

Anything from dry, cold weather to repeated hand-washing can do a number on the skin on your hands, particularly your cuticles. In fact, they're even more prone to wear-and-tear since they surround the nails, which are constantly growing. While using hand cream to hydrate dry skin may be second nature, one important step that people tend to skip is cuticle oil. A step that, according to Paintbox Nail Studios Chief Educator Evelyn Lim, is key to having healthy nails.
