About this deal

Like the Beatles on their later albums, Bush is not concerned about having to perform the music live, and her orchestrations swell to the limits of technology. However, the aforementioned presence of the single mix of “The Big Sky,” rather than the original album mix, might be a deal breaker for some fans. Bush has bloodthirsty hounds stand in for this abstract fear, and on the backing vocals, Bush personifies the hounds, substituting “doggy ‘ow,’” as Bush put it, for traditional “oohs. Given the relative commercial failure of The Dreaming, EMI wasn’t keen on Bush producing herself again. But the Fairlight’s possibilities combined with the freedom of self-producing caused Bush to overdub and layer The Dreaming’s songs to the point of near-unmanageability.

Unlike the hurried Lionheart, Bush took more time to craft Never for Ever and began experimenting with the Fairlight CMI, an early digital sampler and synthesizer that Bush was introduced to by Peter Gabriel, whose third solo record featured Bush on backing vocals. Instead, Bush sampled aerosol can sprays with the Fairlight to deploy in the sonic space usually occupied by hi-hats. Though not the most prolific of album artists, Bush's works make up in impact what they lack in frequency.

There are also electronic mutations of guitar, bass and drums that are matched only by Brian Eno's rock productions. Numbered reissue release with gatefold sleeve in stickered polybag, pressed on pink/grey marbled 180-gram 'Pure Virgin Vinyl' to replicate the original 1985 US pressing.

Presented in a gatefold cover (for the first time), the artwork inside the gatefold being a reproduction of the artwork used on the insert/record bag of the original LP pressing. Taking the whole album into consideration, the 1985 is ahead on more tracks by R128, but the differences are usually only fractions of a dB, and the 2018 is ahead on some songs, too.

It was just a lot of work" Bush laughed on an interview with Richard Skinner in 1992, explaining the sudden resistance she felt following her polarising 'The Dreaming', the first album she also produced. Given that, I think the better resolution of the 2018 is more important than any minor dynamic differences. Hounds Of Love remains the only Kate Bush studio album that has been expanded into any kind of ‘deluxe’ edition when in 1997 EMI issued a new CD edition as part of its Centenary celebrations with a modest six extra tracks.

Kate Bush Hounds Of Love (1985 Uk 12-track Vinyl Lp Featuring The Magnificent The Ninth Wave Kates All-time Masterpiece And Arguably One Of The Finest Recordings Of The Eigh. One of the most crucial art-pop records of all time, 'Hounds of Love' was British legend Kate Bush's fifth studio album, her most commercial and most daring.Over its 40 years in business, PIAS has grown to be one of the largest independently-owned music groups in the world, carving out its own in-house recorded music division PIAS [Recordings]. For those interested, I did compare several original vinyl rips to the 1985 CDs, and both formats seem to share the same Cooper mastering. Lp Vinyl Brand New And Shrink-wrapped, Shipped 1st Class / Airmail From Uk Seller, Very Well Packaged. It would also be the first album not to include any of the backlog of songs she’d written prior to 1978. What strikes me about this version (and it might be the case with the previous Fish People release) is the quality of the photos on the outer and inner sleeves.

On some songs, the 1985 CDs have slightly higher R128 numbers, while on others the 2018 remaster’s numbers are higher. PS: I'd be curious to compare the Audiofidelity remasters that Hoffman did some years ago with the new Guthrie 2018 versions. In the edit page, go to the 'Metadata' tab and add your Juno artist, label or release page for listeners to purchase your release / releases. There's no arguing that Bush is extraordinarily talented, but as with Jonathan Richman, rock's other eternal kid, her vision will seem silly to those who believe children should be seen and not heard. This by far beats out any Madonna or Lady Gaga album (I'm a fan of Madonna's music, not her, but I am a 17-year-old dedicated Little Monster of Queen Gaga! With the help of Del Palmer, Bush’s partner and bassist, Bush began demoing tracks for Hounds of Love in the summer of 1983.
