With that in mind; if those with a deep-rooted love for the band’s more gothic moments are willing to open up to different version of The Cure they may just find more to enjoy than first assumed.

The songs from the Let's Go to Bed and Lovecats singles on the WG CD pressing sounded more or less identical to the Sire LP, interestingly enough.I’d seen how vile I could become, but at the same time I suddenly realized, ‘It doesn’t have to be like this. The best way I can describe it is that the Sire LP (while not a stellar pressing) had this airiness and very pleasing definition/detail in the higher frequencies, whereas the WG CD sounded as if that high frequency had been crudely switched off. Those CDs were too loud but in every other respect sound miles better than the original japanese whispers CD.

The songs were recorded when the band was in a transitional phase after bassist Simon Gallup left following a tour to promote the previous album, Pornography.Makes sense, Thanks Oso, that leaves US and Japan, hopefully someone with a Sire US can confirm these numbers, thanks again guys! There won't be a reissue so I made my own japanese whispers using "greatest hits" for the a sides and "join the dots" for the b sides. Japanese Whispers is a compilation of Cure singles and B-sides that were released between November 1982 and November 1983. I got out my Sire LP to a/b the two versions, and sure enough, the Dream on the WG CD - as well as the other three songs culled from the Walk EP - sounded muffled and muddy compared to the Sire LP.
