TaylorMade has a new 50-compression design in its Soft Response golf ball, with the company claiming its the softest ball it has ever produced. Instantly, we noticed that it had a lovely feel off the face of the putter and, during our round of golf, we certainly holed more putts than usual. Around the green: Not bad, but nothing to write home about. We were able to produce sharp spin from firm bunkers; otherwise, the RBZ is more suited to a chip-and-run technique where spin isn’t paramount. Putts rolled nicely, with no discernible “jump” off the face.
