Gather your courage, pack your sword and journey through the realm to explore dungeons filled with treasure and infested with monsters. When you cross out one of those boxes, you fill in the corresponding number in the adjacent Monster space.

As you do, players will use dice to determine which rooms they explore and which monsters they fight. In exactly the same way that books are Just Words, movies are Just Frames, music is Just Notes, and video games are Just Pixels. Some spaces in gray are activating spaces, and will allow monsters to be attacked on additional numbers. That’s because you will sometimes take turns where you will mark off two spots in quick succession that line up with pairs you were hoping to roll. All other players get to deal 1 Damage to the Monster for free (even if you haven’t made it to the Monster’s room yet). Sometimes, it’s best to go around certain spaces and then use the Monsters as a dumping ground, but you also want to score points.Starting from the green spaces, turns are simple: cross out two numbers aligned with the pairs you’ve created with the rolled dice. There is also a reward in this dungeon for connecting the right and left starting areas with a contiguous path of rooms. It’s generally good to know what your opponents are going after, but if you get a sense of what they’re ignoring, you might be able to sneak around and nab some early Monsters for yourself. Game time is nice and short, coming in around an hour, serving as a solid experience without going on too long.This rule makes you play with much more urgency, but also makes exploration and point-seeking dangerous pastimes, as they can cost you health. I also appreciate that you get the better of five dice when you’re the Active Player; it makes me feel like there’s actually some benefit as the rounds progress. Spaces with 6-7-8-9 values are valuable since they’re more likely to surface – but the distribution plot on the map isn’t equal for each dice value so there’s forced scarcity, and these popular numbers are the first to become extinct.
