About this deal

His wife, Jade, is already on edge when she makes her way home with the children...only to face a masked intruder with a gun. The intruder ties the three of them up and eventually makes his demands known. His implication is crystal clear as well. Cam needs to pay up, or they’re all dead. I would like to thank #AliMercer, #NetGalley and #Bookouture for an ARC of #TheMarriageLie in exchange for an honest review. The first chapter sets things up to be a juicy read. Once the home invasion occurs, a good level of tension and suspense is established. Sadly, it was predictable from there. At a certain point, events began to drag, and I grew bored while waiting for the final showdown that I knew was coming. When the big moment finally occurred, it was anticlimactic. To my humble opinion, it was a mediocre read. It wasn’t a mind-blowing or a captivating thriller. In contrast, it was quite a predictable one and sometimes even boring. That’s the amount that Cam Lasky, famed chef and restaurant owner, will have to pay in cash if he wants his wife and two children to live.

First, I want to thank Ali Mercer, Bookouture and NetGalley for providing me with this book so I can bring you this review. Disclaimer: all items are bought personally unless otherwise stated. Posts that have been commissioned will be labelled as sponsored or collaborative based on the brand’s preference. Unfortunately, I was not able to connect with any of the characters. I did not really like any of them especially Stella, the main character. During the first part of the book I couldn't stand her and almost gave up on reading because of how weak she was. I hated Rob all the way through... what a jerk! and was really happy to see him get what he did in the end. Follow-up to Question 5: Supposedly, Will has changed by the time he marries Iris. Is it possible for people to change? Rob and Stella Castle are having lunch at an expensive restaurant to celebrate her 40th birthday. Rob works in property development and Stella is a teacher. They are the parents of Georgie, age 14, who is currently on a school trip.Argh! This is tense! Tenser than any random L. A. woman’s forehead who has been injected Botox at least hundred times! A tense, suspense-filled read as Cam races against time to save his family. While Jade channels every bit of a protective mama bear to save her children.

Thoughts: My Darling Husband kept me on the edge of my seat through the entire book. I loved the way Belle revealed layers of the story slowly, so the mystery always got more complex. This book took a common fear and explored what someone would do when put in that situation. The multiple points of view gave an interesting look at what the characters were thinking and skipped from the present to the past. I do accept that many readers would enjoy this, so it’s well worth a try if you generally enjoy tense family drama with a secret. Follow-up to Question 4: One of the big questions The Marriage Lie poses is the way in which a person's past shapes and/or defines the future self. How does Will's past shape the person he becomes? Overall: this is intense, extremely high tension, exciting, breath taking , absolutely best book of the author earned my five unlawful entry, parenting, high tension, nail biter, mind bender stars! On the day after Iris and Will's seventh wedding anniversary, they're ready to start trying for a baby. But all is not as it seems. Cam has been playing the role of the perfect husband and father for a while, but he’s carrying a heavy load of secrets. And a scandal is in his very near future.

It starts off with a plane crash, one in which Will Griffith had been a passenger. Will, you see, never should have been on that flight. What a premise. Grief, despair, lies and deceit. If you’ve ever suffered loss or have been married and have been a victim of deceit, this is a novel that hits home in some way, shape or form. Unfortunately for me it did just that. So real and true, if you know those feelings, they are embedded deep within you. The Marriage Lie by Kimberly Belle was a fast paced suspense thriller that kept me engaged right from the get go, but my rating isn't going to be a 5 will tell you why? The detailed and vivid writing style does a great job of building tension and suspense throughout the story. Complementing the immersive narrative are the multiple points of view (POVs) that provide insights into the perspectives and lives of the main characters. Most chapters also end with a cliffhanger, making the story gripping and delightfully hard to put down. There are even a few comical moments that provide a brief respite from the story's tension. These actually had me smiling and laughing out loud. My Darling Husband hits the ground running from the first chapter, and rarely lets up. I was immediately invested in the story. Told from multiple POVs and two timelines, author Kimberly Belle excels at keeping things tense and moving right along. But sometimes it’s hard being critical, dammit. And not every emotion can be adequately explained or fairly measured through a limited band of stars. I’ll give it a shot, though, so my experience with this book doesn't friggen disintegrate.
