About this deal

Now a USA Today bestselling author, Sue has written eighteen novels, many have been translated into several languages. Sue is now exploring the darker side of life with her thrillers OUR LITTLE LIES, THE WOMAN NEXT DOOR, THE EMPTY NEST, THE SISTER-IN-LAW, FIRST DATE and her latest, THE FOREVER HOME. The thing is, Alice left legal problems behind in the UK. She also left her sister very worried about her, always a protective mother hen to her. Alice is determined to prove that she can make her own decisions in life even if that means staying in picturesque Greece. Nik owns a bountiful vineyard and it does not take Alice long to imagine being married to Nik at the vineyard and living an entirely new life. The characters were well fleshed out with depth, mystery, intriguing, and creative. The author’s writing style was complex, multifaceted, suspenseful, twisty, and just brilliant. The way Watson crafts her story, she delivers the plot in twisty layers. When you think you have it figured out, boom another twist, very unpredictable, which I absolutely loved. The ending was an absolutely twisty nightmare, in the best possible way.

It’s the day I’ve been dreaming about my whole life. As I glide down the flower-strewn aisle overlooking the Greek orange groves, in my pearl-encrusted ivory gown, I finally see my fiancé Nik. We look like the perfect couple, but not all fairy tales have happy endings… Utterly impossible to put down. I devoured this book in just one sitting… Gripped me from the beginning… There is absolutely no way I could predict where this was going… Will definitely keep you on the edge of your seat. You’ll be gripped.’ Little Miss Book Lover 87 ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Meanwhile, on Corfu, Alice has become obsessed with a well known crime case, the mysterious disappearance of dozens of Middle Aged women over several years from the Island. Thank you to Bookouture and NetGalley who provided me with a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review. All the thoughts and opinions are my own. There, she meets new friend, Wedding Planner Sylvia, also she has a random meeting with the very handsome, very single older, Nik Kouris.

As the chilly nights roll in, this book will give you a slice of summer as Alice tells her tale of Corfu.Alice was devastated when she was unable to have a child while married to Dan. Alcohol was her medication of choice to deal with distresses of infertility as well as some major problems during her marriage. A chance meeting with Dan and his current girlfriend, heavily pregnant, has Alice fleeing to Corfu in Greece and maybe she can forget some of her pain. Making a new friend in Sylvie and a potential beau when it comes to a handsome man named Nik, it just might be that Alice’s life has hit the reset button. Fantastic … Such a gripping story – totally unpredictable and utterly impossible to put down. Loved every second! ’ Goodreads reviewer, ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Sometimes I got a little annoyed with the main character, because on the one hand I thought that she was a lttle naive - but other times I thought that she was a little psycho... After sending Bella a Christmas card for years with no response, a few years before I'd decided to add something more personal- one of Mum's recipes. I had included various Christmas recipes each year since, from gingerbread to chocolate and cranberry brownies- Bella's favorite as a child. I saw these as a reminder of the good times we'd shared and hoped she'd feel the same. Just writing down those recipes reminded me of Mum in her kitchen- the soft, wobbly fold of flour into butter, the grit of sugar, the heady fragrance of chocolate, sweet vanilla and the warmth of ginger.” The blushing bride. The handsome groom. A secret one of them will kill for…It’s the day I’ve been dreaming about my whole life. As I glide down the flower-strewn aisle overlooking the Greek orange groves, in my pearl-encrusted ivory gown, I finally see my fiance Nik. We look like the perfect couple, but not all fairy tales have happy endings…I try to forget the urgent calls from my sister this morning, and how she doesn’t know I’m about to marry a man I have only known for a few months. His family seem a little off and he shuts down when I ask him about his past – but we’ve all got skeletons in the closet, right? As I take in the guests, I don’t recognise a single person or see any of my friends or family. It doesn’t matter, though, what matters is Nik – the handsome man waiting at the altar who loves me so much.Of course, he doesn’t know the true reason I moved to this beautiful island, or what happened to my ex-husband.And when he finds out who I really am, it will be far too late… The Wedding Day by Sue Watson – eBook Details

I thought I had guessed the crux of the story but it turns out I was miles away in certain things and I LOVED that, a real surprise ending is always a great bonus to a fantatsic read….and that’s what this is, a real psychological/drama/family/relationship thriller of a book Originally from Manchester, Sue now lives with her family in Worcestershire where much of her day is spent writing - okay, procrastinating. Her hobby is eating cake, while watching diet and exercise programmes from the sofa, a skill she's perfected after many years of practice. I have loved the books I’ve read of Sue Watson and this one is no exception. And I’ll say the twists started for me from the beginning. I’m not sure if I read the synopsis or forgot it, but that was not the beginning I was expecting. I am spoiler free here, so you’ll just have to trust me to just go in blind and enjoy a few extra twists. Especially since the beginning is a little bit of a slow burn.

As Alice’s relationship with Nik flourishes, and her friendship with Sylvia goes from strength, to strength, the situation in the UK threatens to explode, ruining her new happier life. The story begins in the UK on Valentine's Day with Alice in a supermarket buying wine, mourning her failed marriage to Dan. An unexpected incident causes her to flee to Corfu to escape the police's accusations and there she meets Nik, an attractive, wealthy owner of a vineyard, who appears to be everything she needs to forget her past. But Corfu proves not to be the safe haven she was expecting and Alice realises she could be in danger... I really enjoy reading Sue Watson books, I like her style of writing and how she draws you into the story, it's a case of never just one more chapter.

When I started reading this story, I was unsure. Alice has a vague memory of some events, while also alluding to historical trauma, so it was difficult for me to connect. However, after the halfway point, the story really started coming together for me and I really started wondering how everything was going to be resolved. And, as with the only other Sue Watson story I've read, 'The Nursery', the end is never really the end. Overall, a good read for all psychological thriller lovers. He also lives with his cousin Dimitris who has a hard time communicating and is under suspicion for women missing on the island. There are posters of missing women. Alice is intrigued and wants to find out more. Thanks so much to Netgalley.co.uk and the author Sue Watson for an advanced copy of 'The Wedding Day' due to be released in May in exchange for an honest review. All he wants is pineapple yoghurt. It might be his dying wish and I can’t find a pot anywhere. It’s the least I can do for my husband, now lying in bed at home with nothing left of his life, just a tube in his arm and a vague desire for pineapple in fermented milk. I loved the vivid descriptions of this Greek island, but I found the characters to be a little one dimensional and I was annoyed at all the red flags that Alice ignored; however, in Sue Watson's signature style, she creates a complex, layered plot that will have you guessing about everyone and everything. Who exactly can Alice trust?
