About this deal

After extensive research, I chose the JLL R200, buying it in November 2019. What Makes the JLL R200 the Best Cheap Rowing Machine? Seeking out the best rowing machines is a job that we take very seriously. Like the best treadmills, cross trainers and exercise bikes, this is a piece of equipment absolutely central to any commercial gym, and is also often the one big investment that those with home gym set-ups choose. Streamlined, low-impact and — as anyone who has ever used one will attest — challenging, the rowing machine is a bastion of cardio fitness gear.

At JLL we take every effort to supply each and every customer with a prompt and efficient delivery service. Over the years our systems have evolved in line with our company's growth to ensure that this happens. Also there are some complaints that the brilliant red paint work of the Sumi flakes – not something which was an issue with the R200. JLL R200 vs XS Sports R310The specification shows that the maximum user weight supported is 100kg, which translates to 15st 10lbs. It’s not the highest & could’ve benefitted from being tested upto 130kg. If you’re under 100kg though, this isn’t a problem for you!

When I first used my R200, I was delighted to find that it offered a full range of movement and a smooth, comfortable rowing experience. It was quiet too, using magnetic resistance rather than a fan. Perfect for my early morning workouts so that I wouldn’t wake my family. I found that when rowing I would have sever indigestion and regurgitation – even when rowing on an empty stomach. I persisted with it for 3 months, but concluded that unfortunately, rowing didn’t suit this condition. The machine isn’t just geared solely to competitive rowers, though. It has simple adjustability that lets you switch resistance from a rowing simulation to a high-resistance power development setting. The SkillRow offers interactive coaching for rowing technique, too, because even the best machine is only as good as the user’s ability to use proper technique and maximise the workout. With 10 levels of magnetic resistance the R200 does not offer a challenging workout for experienced rowers, but for beginner and intermediate users looking to use it for a good solid cardio workout the levels of resistance are more than enough to get the heart rate up. There is a good range of difficulty between setting 1 and setting 10 and this is easily adjusted by twisting the dial on the centre console. Thanks to the convenient placement it is even possible to change this without demounting from the machine. The footplates on this rower are pretty large and will fit any shoe size comfortably. The plates are fitted with velcro straps with are easy to adjust but also keep your feet surprisingly secure throughout each stroke with no sliding movement. The realism of the resistance is also important for more than just competitive rowers. Hydraulic and magnetic resistance may look superficially the same, but the unique benefit of rowing exercise relies on resistance changing according to the speed of the stroke. A flywheel or water chamber can generate that type of resistance, meaning that your arms and body are offered a dynamic workout just as much as your quads, whereas cheaper systems cannot.

This water resistance-driven rower might not have the classic wooden build of a certain other rower on this list (namely, the Topiom), but it's certainly easier on your wallet. Offering six levels of resistance depending on how much its reservoir is filled, its belt-driven mechanism offers a smooth (and blissfully quiet) rowing experience. There's no fancy touchscreen, but the built-in console displays important stats like strokes, calories burned, and distance covered, and it's large enough to show off everything clearly without straining your eyes. This shows just how much JLL value their customer service, as they also want to ensure you have the workout equipment that’s perfect for you. Conclusion The R200 measures up at 180cm in total length when unfolded and has a width of 52cm. The height of this rower is 49cm unfolded and 127cm when folded, but the length reduces down to just 71cm when folded which means it can be stood up in a corner of a room and take up very little floor space. There are also some transport wheels which make it very easy to move the JLL R200 from one place to another. That began my research into rowing machines. Given that I have limited space in my home, a Concept 2 was out of the question. No manufacturer's warranty covers failure of a treadmill if caused by unreasonable or abusive use or if the customer alters the treadmill in any way or if the customer fails to provide reasonable & necessary care/maintenance. Exercise Bikes/ Cross Trainers:

The Competition

Before we get into why I consider this to be the best cheap rowing machine on the market, we need to put this review into context. It’s Not A Concept 2 Competitor! When it comes to home cardio workouts there are few better options than a home rowing machine. But if you are looking for something of good quality that isn’t going to cost a small fortune then your choices are limited. That is until you come across the JLL R200 rower. If you want a machine that comes with more bells and whistles then you will have to be open to paying more. Final Thoughts (should you buy the JLL R200 rower?)
