About this deal

Jameson Crested Ten is a brand made by Jameson. It has an ABV of 40%. The brand was launched in 1963 and is Jameson's oldest bottled brand. [15] Not 10 years old as the name suggests, the majority of the blend is 7–8 years with approximately 60% of the blend being pot still and 40% grain. As of 2006, it is not widely available outside Ireland. Stuart, McNamara. "A Beginners Guide to How Irish Whiskey is Made". IrishWhiskey.com . Retrieved 12 July 2015. If using other spirit based products, we encourage you to use any of the Pernod Ricard portfolio products, otherwise such products must be referred to generically (omitting brand names and any branded visual references) e.g. vodka, rum etc in non-branded bottles. This is a virtual competition so no taste testing will take place. Our judging panel will use their extensive knowledge of mixology to asses submissions from each entrant.

Unsuccessful entrants will not be notified directly. Please refer to @JamesonHOSTS (IG) for competition updates If someone who doesn’t drink whiskey much comes over and says, I want to try this Irish whiskey stuff, I’ll probably pour the Green Spot, as it’s about as smooth and beginner-friendly as it gets. If I’m going to a party and there will be some moderately knowledgeable-about-whiskey people there, I might bring the Powers John’s Lane or the Redbreast CS. If I’m with my whiskey bros, I’ll bring the Yellow Spot or Midleton Very Rare.

Awards for Jameson Black Barrel

Working with our 3 independant judges, we will score each entry according to the below judging criteria: Jameson is produced from a blend of grain whiskey and single pot still whiskey, which uses a mixture of malted and unmalted or "green" Irish barley, all sourced from within a fifty-mile radius around the distillery in Cork. The barley is dried in a closed kiln fired by natural gas (formerly anthracite coal). This is in contrast to the traditional method used in some Scotch whisky distilleries, which fire the kiln with peat, adding a distinctive peat flavour. [14] Jameson Crested Ten [ edit ]
