About this deal

It is a priority for CBC to create products that are accessible to all in Canada including people with visual, hearing, motor and cognitive challenges. When I heard that Rupi Kaur would have a new book out, I just went for it. I didn’t even read the description. Rupi is an auto-buy for me every time. So imagine my delight and surprise when this book turned out to be guided writing exercises rather than a book of new work. Every step taken in mindfulness brings us one step closer to healing ourselves and the planet." - Thich Nhat Hanh Healing requires from us to stop struggling, but to enjoy life more and endure it less." - Darina Stoyanova

New York Times bestselling author Rupi Kaur presents guided poetry writing exercises of her own design to help you explore themes of trauma, loss, heartache, love, family, healing and celebration of the self.

The book is aimed at readers who are going through difficult times in their lives and are looking for a way to express their emotions and find solace. Kaur uses her signature style of short, simple, and powerful poems to help readers connect with their inner selves and find comfort in their pain.

Healing takes courage, and we all have courage, even if we have to dig a little to find it." - Tori Amos Healing may not be so much about getting better, as about letting go of everything that isn't you – all of the expectations, all of the beliefs – and becoming who you are." - Rachel Naomi Remen There are so many ways to heal. Arrogance may have a place in technology, but not in healing. I need to get out of my own way if I am to heal." - Anne Wilson Schaef If your goals aren't synced with the substance of your heart, then achieving them won't matter much." - Danielle LaPorteWhether you are going through a difficult time or simply looking for inspiration, Healing Through Words is a book that will touch your heart and leave a lasting impression. The book is peppered with examples of her past work, and perhaps my one complaint about this book is that I had hoped to read some new work. All the same, it was a joy to revisit some of my favourites and her greatest hits. It may not challenge or surprise readers who are already familiar with Rupi Kaur’s style and themes.

Next, this book takes her poetry, her experiences, opinions and passion and gives you a chance to start documenting your own experiences and feelings. This is then channeled into healing. What’s not to love? By far the strongest poison to the human spirit is the inability to forgive oneself or another person. Forgiveness is no longer an option but a necessity for healing." - Caroline Myss Healing Through Words is a poetry book by Rupi Kaur, the New York Times bestselling author of Milk and Honey. The book consists of a collection of poems that explore themes such as love, loss, trauma, healing, and resilience. Feelings are much like waves, we can't stop them from coming but we can choose which ones to surf." - Jonatan Martensson In it, Rupi guides us gently through exercises that feel designed to be part self-help and part writer’s retreat. What I loved was how encouraging she was throughout. She really does make you feel like you, too, can be a poet. No small feat for those of us that are intimidated by writing anything personal let alone poetry. She affirms over and over that we all can be writers and gives us the tools to get there. I won’t lie to you; there are parts of this book that will be triggering for those with past traumas. Rupi asks us to confront the darkness in our pasts with bravery while at the same time making us feel like it’s okay and safe to do so. The overall effect is that she’s standing behind you, ready to give you a high five or a hug or perhaps just a cheeky wink from the corner of the room.It may not appeal to readers who are looking for more structured and formal guidance on poetry writing techniques and forms.

The poems in the book are divided into four sections: hurting, loving, breaking, and healing. Each section explores a different aspect of the human experience and takes readers on a journey through the ups and downs of life. Kaur's words are raw and honest, and they have the power to stir up emotions and touch the hearts of her readers. Healing Through Words is a book that reminds us that we are all human and that we all experience pain and suffering in our lives. It is a book that encourages us to be kind to ourselves and to others and to embrace the power of words to heal and transform our lives. After seeing in person her touching performance in Sao Paulo, i bought the book and, in a way i still cant believe it, i had it signed by Rupi. It may not be suitable for younger or sensitive readers who may find some of the topics or language too mature or triggering. So, if you are looking for a book that will help you find solace in your pain and inspire you to live your life to the fullest, then Healing Through Words is the book for you.

The place of true healing is a fierce place. It's a giant place. It's a place of monstrous beauty and endless dark and glimmering light. And you have to work really, really, really hard to get there, but you can do it." - Cheryl Strayed
