About this deal

With all OMRON blood pressure monitors, the recommended time between calibration depends on the use of the product. If the monitor is being used in a home or personal environment, we recommend they are re-calibrated every 2 years. If the monitor is being used in a clinical environment such as a doctors surgery, we recommend that this is done annually to ensure the accuracy of the results. You’ll feel the cuff inflate quite rapidly. It may temporarily be a bit tender or uncomfortable for, as the cuff inflates and deflates automatically, but this will only be for a short period of time. If it is too tender/uncomfortable you can just press the ‘Stop’ button and the cuff will instantly deflate.

Sit in a chair with your feet flat on the floor. Rest your arm on a table with your palm facing upward. The cuff should be level with your heart. Do not talk or move during the measurement. Some monitors link up to smartphone apps that store your information. Unfortunately, this means you have to sync your data every time if you want to maintain an up-to-date history of each of your readings. If connectivity is important to you, set your sights on a monitor with Bluetooth connections and smart home compatibility.Place the cuff over your upper arm and tighten the cuff over your arm, making sure you can fit two fingers underneath the cuff. You want the cuff to be over the upper part of your arm with the tubing leading down the centre or slightly to the right of your arm. To determine your arm size, use a cloth tape measure and place the tape measure midway between your elbow and your shoulder around the circumference of your upper arm. Wrap the tape measure evenly around your arm. Do not pull the tape tight. Note the precise measurement in centimetres. Another benefit to self-pump devices is that you can calibrate them yourself. This can provide an assurance of accuracy that you won’t get with an auto-inflate monitor. If there’s more than one person in your household, you also may want to consider blood pressure monitors that store multiple readings. Instead of buying separate devices for everyone in your home who has high blood pressure, you’ll be able to consolidate everything in one place. Some monitors handle this more easily than others, though. So you may want to watch for one that makes it easy to capture multiple readings without having to always make sure you’re under the right username.

Ease of use is another factor when you’re choosing a blood pressure monitor. You’ll need to consider how easy it is to slip the blood pressure cuff on and off your arm, as well as the screen that comes with the device. Some monitors have large, easily readable digital screens that clearly reveal your reading to take away the guesswork.
