About this deal

D. is a blend of rums from Barbados, Guyana, and Jamaica in the overproof dark style, and replaces Plantation’s Trinidad-sourced Original Dark Overproof Rum. Made using traditional pot stills, it is a smooth dark rum with punchy notes of brown sugar and thick toffee.

The rums in the blend originate in five countries: Jamaica, Trinidad, Barbados, Guyana, and “unspecified. Alexandre Gabriel, Master Blender for Plantation Rum, brought together six rum luminaries--Jeff "Beachbum" Berry from Latitude 29, Martin Cate from Smuggler's Cove, Paul McFadyen from Trailer Happiness, Paul McGee from Lost Lake, Scotty Schuder from Dirty Dick, and Dave Wondrich, cocktail historian extraordinaire. This distillery boasts 9 different types of stills of which seven are used with this rum, two of which are wooden (their Port Mourant double wooden pot-still and their Enmore wooden Coffey still).Firstly this is fantastic rum, it's lovely and syrupy and delicious as you'd expect from a demerera rum. You should also note that the picture images show only our serving suggestions of how to prepare your food - all table accessories and additional items and/or ingredients pictured with the product you are purchasing are not included. Made from sugar cane grown along the banks of the Demerara River, it is still made in traditional pot stills to produce a dark rum of uncommon strength. Wood's is the only Demerara navy rum still bottled at 57% ABV, the original strength served on British Navy ships. Ingredients: 50ml Wood's Navy Rum, 20ml ruby grapefruit juice, 20ml lime juice, 20ml honey, ginger beer.

The original strength of rum served on board British naval ships was 57% and today Wood's is the only Demerara rum bottled at this strength. It may not be reproduced in any way whatsoever without Wm Morrisons Supermarkets Limited prior consent, nor without due acknowledgement. While we have taken care in preparing this summary and believe it to be accurate, it is not a substitute for reading the product packaging and label prior to use. If you're looking for the true Navy Strength ABV version, look for the brand's Gunpowder Proof with a black label.

Wood's Navy Rum is a traditional British naval style rum, still bottled at 57% and made to the original navy recipe from 1887. Pusser's is a Navy Rum created from a blend of pot-still and column-still rums from Guyana and Trinidad with at least one wooden pot-still used. Over many tasting and blending sessions, they formulated a rum ideally suited for use in top-shelf Tiki and tropical cocktails.

Despite it's strength it's slow aging means it characterised by an unbelievably smooth, mellow taste. The spirit is made from Demerara molasses and contains three different rums, all distilled at the Diamond Distillery in Guyana, South America, before being shipped to the UK. Strong too, you might expect the high alcohol to add harshness but instead it smooths all the flavours into one delicious hit. Not sure how someone could give this 1 star, there must be a problem with their taste buds, I’ve been drinking Woods for years and apart from a very expensive aged rum I had in Barbados it’s the best rum I’ve ever tasted. A small plus is the packaging, that pop as you draw the cork adds to the taste buds anticipation of a tot or two.Navy rum—traditionally, a rum blend featuring rums from Guyana, Jamaica, Barbados, and Trinidad—was once given to sailors by the Royal British Navy as daily rations or “tots”. What do you do when you want to test the strength of your rum but are on a ship in the middle of the ocean? Master Distiller Maggie Campbell, previously with the renowned Germain-Robin distillery, has put out a series of expressions that are turning heads in the rum crowd.
