About this deal

Can you use ‘crash mats’? Please do not use crash mats for people who are dying or who does not move in bed instead use bed rails. Do the fittings or mattress allow the bed rail to be fitted to the bed securely so that there is no excessive movement? We are delighted to tell you that the NRS Healthcare EasyFit Plus+ Bed Rail has been tried and tested by our team of Occupational Therapists who are proud to give it the OT Recommended seal of approval.

Ensuring that the most up-to-date version of the instructions for use are being used and are provided to the bed occupant and/or their family and carers. For use with any bed frame or divan, this strong steel frame clamps between the bed and the floor, giving you a very sturdy support. Lower yourself onto and raise yourself out of your bed with this bed frame that increases safety in your bedroom and can be stored flat when its not in use.

Does the manufacturer/supplier provide any information on special considerations or contra-indications? Get a good nights sleep, knowing that in the morning, you can wake up and get out of bed easily and independently with the help of the Parnell Bed Rail.

However, accident data shows that bed rails sometimes don't prevent falls and can introduce other risks. Other risk factors (such as inappropriate use or incompatibility) are included in the MHRA’s updated guidance on the management and safe use of bed rails and should be considered as part of an appropriate risk assessment. An example risk assessment is provided in Appendix 1 of the guidance. Assessment of appropriate bed rails should be routinely incorporated in the clinical assessment of all patients. Implement systems to update risk assessments where the equipment or the patient’s clinical condition has changed (for example, reduction/improvement in weight or mobility), and also at regular intervals. From 1 January 2018 to 31 December 2022, the MHRA received 18 reports of deaths related to medical beds, bed rails, trolleys, bariatric beds, lateral turning devices and bed grab handles, and 54 reports of serious injuries. The majority of these were due to entrapment or falls.

Action 5. Organisations which regularly require beds for children and for children and adults with atypical anatomy should plan to replace non-compliant beds as soon as possible.
