About this deal

The Kayano is a titan, lasting through 27 iterations. So you don’t mess with that name (or shoe) without some serious forethought. It delivers boatloads of cushioning and stability, but not every runner needs that level of protection. Mizuno was founded in 1906 in Japan and its product development strategy is to create products with features that enhance athlete performance and are unique to only Mizuno. These technological advancements make its sporting equipment and apparel go the extra mile and keep you on tip top form. The Wave Inspire 18’s midsole also features a bio-based thermoplastic polyurethane (TPU) compound in the midsole. Traditional TPU foams are made with petroleum or natural gas, while Mizuno’s bio-based plastic is made from renewable materials. You can enjoy a smooth, cushioned ride while feeling good about your impact on the environment.

Mizuno’s ENERZY foam shines in the midsole, offering a blend of softness and energy return not typically seen in stability shoes. You may have experienced Mizuno ENERZY foam in the Wave Rider 25 or the Wave Sky 5. Mizuno didn’t make too many changes to the latest version of the Wave Inspire, which means if you enjoyed the previous version you’ll likely enjoy this one, too.

MIZUNO ENERZY

This is my first pair of Mizuno running shoes ever. I was pretty excited to try them and see why Mizuno Wave fans love this particular model. I opened the box and was surprised with how well made they looked. To help guide a pronating foot, Asics scallops the Lite’s lateral (outer) edge while bolstering the foam’s medial side. The design helps the sole compress on landing, and then provides extra resistance as you roll to midstance. Wear-testers say the Lite 2 felt “light as feather” while still providing support and cushioning on their runs. One hangup was that the wider platform resulted in a looser fit around the midfoot, causing some testers to slide or scrunch their feet for a stabler hold on the footbed midrun.

Stability: A- ( The wave plate and heel counter do a great job providing guidance through the midfoot and heel.) Stability: A [Moderate Stability] ( Excellent stable and guided ride from wave plate, sidewalls and forward guidance) The G3 compound used in the outsole saves weight over traditional rubber, and has been enhanced with a more durable G3-DR compound to keep it durable. As a result, it’s built to withstand plenty of mileage. Those asking whether there is still a place for high drop shoes, the answer is yes. It is not necessary to have a huge number, but having a least a few in the industry will benefit a small population of people. The rest will likely do better in more moderate ranges like we are seeing today. I haven’t tried past models but I was very impressed with the shoe as a whole from the first time I placed them on my feet. The Mizuno Wave Inspire 18 is your everyday overpronator’s reliable daily trainer. This year’s most significant update is in the reconstruction of this engineered mesh upper. Other than that, the Enerzy midsole and Wave Plate act as a cushioning suspension to log easy to moderate miles.
