About this deal

This is one of the most meticulously researched books of seerah available in English. For every narration and incident mentioned, there is a reference to the original Arabic text that the narration is found in. While the book definitely gets redundant in certain places and tangential in others, it is an absolute must for anyone who wants an in depth understanding of the seerah. If you’re doing a halaqah series on the seerah, this is the book you would use as your reference.

seerah) - Yaqeen Institute for Islamic Life of the Prophet (seerah) - Yaqeen Institute for Islamic

I would advice the following Sirah books are better written and cover various topics and a more competitive price. Buloogh al-Maraam, by al-Haafiz Ibn Hajar al-‘Asqallaani. This is a very useful book, especially because it mentions the narrators, and quoted the opinions of others scholars, who said whose hadeeth is saheeh and whose is da’eef, and he comments on the hadeeth to say whether they are saheeh or da’eef.

The letters of the prophet Muhammad (Pbuh)

Umdat al-Ahkaam by al-Maqdisi. This is an abridged book; most of its ahaadeeth are narrated in al-Saheehayn so their authenticity does not need to be researched. M. R. Ahmad (1992). Al-sīra al-nabawiyya fī ḍawʾ al-maṣādir al-aṣliyya: dirāsa taḥlīliyya (1sted.). Riyadh: King Saud University. Matn al-Burhaaniyyah by Muhammad al-Burhaani. This is a useful and comprehensive abridged book dealing with all the laws of inheritance. I think that al-Burhaaniyyah is more comprehensive than al-Rahbiyyah in some ways, and it gives more information. Amr ibn al Aas (Raa), was one of the staunchest enemies of the prophet(صلىاللهعليهوسلم), one of the top plotters against Islam who acceptedIslam and became a noble companion. When he was crying on his death bed, his son told him: O my father didn’t Rasool Allah SAW give you the glad tidings about this and that. It was reported that the Prophet PBUHhad said:"Amr Ibn Al Aas has attained faith, (ie he is a Mu’min)". His son was trying to give him the glad tidings that he was a true believer. Amr ibn al Aas turned around and said: I have been through 3 stages in my life: At the first stage the most despised man to me was Muhammed(صلىاللهعليهوسلم), and my desire was to get my hands on him and kill him, he says. "Had I died at thattime, I would have definitely been in Hell fire". He continues, "and then Allah put the love of Islam in my heart and I went to Muhammed(صلىاللهعليهوسلم)and said: I want to become Muslim, extend your hand so that I may pledge myallegiance to you". "So Muhammed(صلىاللهعليهوسلم)extended his hand forward, and I pulled my hand away". Rasool Allah(صلىاللهعليهوسلم)asked Amr about what was the matter?Amr Ibn al Aas said:أريدأناشترطلنفسي ,“I have a condition”. Rasool(صلىاللهعليهوسلم)asked him: “what is your condition?”He said my condition is to get pardon, and clemency. This was because of the regret of what he had done in the past and wanted to be forgiven for all he had done. Goodman, Lenn E. (2003-03-27). Islamic Humanism. Oxford University Press. ISBN 9780199885008. ʿAbd al-ʿAzīz al-Dūrī, Historical Writing, p.36: "Ahmad ibn Hanbal rejected the hadiths reported by Ibn Ishaq precisely on the grounds of their use of the collective isnād: "I see him relating a single hadith on the authority of a group of people, without distinguishing the words of one from those of another"" (Tanbih 9-43) But Ibn Hanbal did accept Ibn Ishaq's authority for the maghazi.

Rawdat al-‘Uqalaa’ by Ibn Hibbaan al-Busti (may Allaah have mercy on him). This is a useful book despite its brevity. He compiled a large amount of useful material and stories of the scholars, muhadditheen and others. I was excited to be one of the volunteers reading advanced copies of this book before it was released, before having the opportunity to discuss themes and the structure of the book with Ustadh Asim Khan. Ye have indeed in the Apostle of Allah a beautiful pattern of (conduct) for anyone whose hope is in Allah and the Final Day and who engages much in the praise of Allah. (Al-Ahzab)Seerah of Prophet Muhammad by Yasir Qadhi – This is perhaps the most thorough and detailed lecture series on the life of the Messenger (pbuh) done in the English language. The Hadith continues, but what we want to emphasis here is how Amr ibn Al Aas's life changed when he got to know the Prophet Muhammed(صلىاللهعليهوسلم). By knowing Rasool Allah, he who was his worst enemy, became his most beloved companion.

Amr said “so I became Muslim, at that stage. Muahmmed(صلىاللهعليهوسلم), from being my worst enemy, became the most beloved personto me in the whole world, and I loved and respected him so much that I couldn’t even get a full glimpse of his face, whenever I used to see him. I would stare down (in respect), and if you ask me today to describe him to you, I can’t. And had I died in that state, I would have hoped to be in Jannah.” Tafseer al-Qur’aan al-‘Azeem by Ibn Katheer (may Allaah have mercy on him). This book is good for tafseer based on reports and it is useful and trustworthy. But it does not pay much attention to matters of grammar and style. al-Usool min ‘Ilm al-Usool. This is an abridged book which serves as an introduction for the seeker of knowledge.

The Qualities of a True Believer

Noble Life of the Prophet (3 Vols.) by Ali Muhammad As-Sallaabee – This is recommended by some popular Muslim speakers and is considered a must review if you want to teach seerah. The phrase sīrat rasūl allāh, or as-sīra al-nabawiyya, refers to the study of the life of Muhammad. The term sīra was first linked to the biography of Muhammad by Ibn Shihab al-Zuhri (d. 124/741-2), and later popularized by the work of Ibn Hisham (d. 833). In the first two centuries of Islamic history, sīra was more commonly known as maghāzī (literally, stories of military expeditions), which is now considered to be only a subset of sīra [2]—one that concerns the military campaigns of Muhammad. The Sirah of the Prophet (pbuh): A Contemporary and Original

Muhammad's life is a perfect model and example for people to follow to attain goodness, piety, and success in their individual as well as social life. Muhammad: His Life Based on the Earliest Sources by Martin Lings written in high level English as the author was a Shakespearean writer & there is an audiobook available as well. Here are a couple of examples to show how important knowing the Seerah is and how can it impact the way we think and interpret the things around us. This book really did meet it's objective. It was fun to read and really did increase me in my understanding of the Seerah. Fath al-Baari Sharh Saheeh al-Bukhaari, by Ibn Hajar al-‘Asqallaani (may Allaah have mercy on him).

Islam: Faith and Practice

This principle – if one made it the path upon which one walks – would be sufficient. Another principle is given concerning when one should speak, “Whoever believes in Allaah and the Last Day, let him say something good or else remain silent.” (Narrated by al-Bukhaari, Kitaab al-Adab; Muslim, Kitaab al-Luqtah, Baab al-Diyaafah). Aadaab al-mashiy ila’l-Salaah by Shaykh al-Islam Muhammad ibn ‘Abd al-Wahhaab (may Allaah have mercy on him) Muhammad the last Prophet: A Model for All Time by Sayyed Abul Hasan Ali Nadwi – This is written by one of the most influential Muslims of the 20th century. Nadwi was not just an Islamic scholar but also a historian. He also wrote another more detailed book on the topic that you can read as well. There is a third book on the topic as well written by him specifically for Tableeghi Jama’at focusing on brevity. This third version is very straightforward and can even be given to kids in middle school to read. Hoyland, Robert G (1998).
