It was new and fun and twisty and I loved it. SE: This book has multiple layers of storytelling. There’s the narrative, but then there’s also the podcast that Josie and Alix do, and interspersed throughout the book are scenes from a Netflix show based on the podcast. Why did you decide to write the story in that way?

What were you excited to explore by including a podcast within the structure, as well as by having one of the narrators be a podcaster?I’m speechless after reading this bone chilling, dark, twisty, mind bending thriller which is one of the best works of Lisa Jewel. Her first novel, Ralph's Party, was the best- selling debut novel of 1999. Since then she has written another twenty novels, most recently a number of dark psychological thrillers, including The Girls, Then She Was Gone, The Family Upstairs and The Night She Disappeared.

Lots of short, punchy chapters, interspersed with a Netflix documentary and podcast extracts, all make for a very fast-paced read. You know bad shit has happened from the start, maybe reeeaaaaalllly bad shit, but I didn't have a clue what, exactly, had gone down, and I was desperate to find out. Toward the end of the novel, we get more perspectives on Josie as a character and the truth of what she did—from her children, her mother, Katelyn, and others. With these increased points of view, how do you now see Josie? Alix Summers, a popular podcaster, is out celebrating her forty-fifth birthday when she meets her birthday twin Josie Fair. She doesn’t think much more about it until she runs into Josie again outside her children’s school. One thing leads to another, and Josie convinces Alix they should make a podcast about Josie’s life, sharing her truth and making some big changes.Was Josie’s plan to confess to Alix about covering up Brooke’s murder (she does present this idea to Walter, but he rejects the idea. Is this why she kills him?

I was on board with Josie killing Brooke but based on your comments I now think it might have been both Walter and Josie together. Alix and Josie meet up in the ladies room and learn that they were born on the same day at the same hospital. A few days later, Alix and Josie bump into each other again, this time outside Alix's children's school. Josie has been listening to Alix's podcasts and thinks she might be an interesting subject for her series. She is, she tells Alix, on the cusp of great changes in her life. When Alix invites Josie into her home to record a podcast about Josie’s life, all signs are pointing to it not ending well. Josie is downright creepy, and Alix, being a typical Jewell character, ignores her screaming gut instinct to turn Josie away. I guess for Alix, the promise of a viral podcast outweighs all else.

If this book didn’t victim blame a thirteen-year-old girl, it would have been a four-star read. A teen is incapable (and inculpable) of holding any power over a creepy middle-aged man. NONE OF THIS IS TRUE will make you second guess everything. i was absolutely obsessed with the two female MCs. this story was so addicting, i finished it in 24 hours because i simply couldn’t wait to figure out the truth. this book is full of unreliable narrators and characters who all have their secrets and hidden agendas and it’s so interesting to dive into everyone’s psyche. A few days later, they bump into each other again, this time outside Alix's children's school. Josie says she thinks she would be an interesting subject for Alix's podcast. She is, she tells Alix, on the cusp of great changes in her life.
