About this deal

My sister wears this and it was pretty as it wafted around today in the spring-like air. I say 'spring', because I don't know how it would perform in true heat, as it was really mild today in the Pacific North and not truly summery. verifyErrors }}{{ message }}{{ /verifyErrors }}{{ I just got my bottle (never smelled it before). The first 5 minutes it was a vaguely nauseating alcohol, but difficult to perceive unless you really sniffed around for it. Due to my everlasting love of Britney's Believe, I finally decided to try another one of her scents, and so I blind bought a 100 ml bottle of this since it was so cheap, and seemed appealing. What caught my interest was the pear, and I wanted to add another floral perfume to my growing collection. Sadly, it did not live up to my expectations and does not compare to my beloved Believe.

Upon initial spray, a surprisingly natural magnolia emerges. There is a hint of juicy pear, but to my nose syrupy cherry notes provide much of the sweet fruitiness. White florals prevail, with soft and muted jasmine and tuberose appearing after the initial fruity accords. I don't get much vanilla, but there is a slightly rancid muskiness to the base that somehow works, adding a sensual quality. The musk is offset by fresh, aquatic notes along with the aforementioned florals. MY OLD FAITHFUL! This is the scent that got me started with perfume collecting, especially celebs, now I have a bunch of her perfumes in my collection. There is something about Curious that radiates and I get a lot of compliments, more then any other scent I own (21 scents). It is a fairytale floral with that magic touch. Not sure what note creates this sensation, maybe the sandlewood with the aquatic notes. The sillage is very sparkly to me. It is a Safe blind buy and versatile for daytime, work or nighttime use. I remember the commercial coming out when I was young but did not start wearing it until recently when I finally got "into" perfumes. Britney was my idol growing up so I love telling people "I smell like Britney Spears". I also suggest Midnight & Electric fantasy is Devine! To me these are more mature BS scents. For the price, I highly suggest her line! Best for Celeb perfumes. I will be gifting this to my mom for birthday this year. She loves L’ Eau De’ Issey & I find these too scents very similar with similar notes even though I highly prefer curious. I think this will be a perfect daily wear for her as it has been for me! Britney continues to dominate the celebrity fragrance world (along with a few others like JLO and Paris Hilton). Her scents are always quality...and always last (with the exception of Island Fantasy which is weak as hell). Two thumbs up Britney. I'm sure that several women out there were teenagers when they bought this and still wear it today in their 20s, 30s and 40s. Anywho, fast forward 4 years from that first failed relationship, I became a born-again proud heaux and started experiencing with perfumes again. When one of my first fwb's smelled this frag on me, he didn't realize I was wearing perfume. He commented on my scent, saying "There's something about you.. I don't know how to explain it, but the way you smell is.. irresistible.." SO WHEN I TELL YALL -- this is not just any type of perfume! This is that teenage fever type of perfume! Layering it with the body soufflé just makes the pear more fresh and dreamy and it saddens me with a few recent comments that people don’t seem to like this. I’m going to put it down to reformulations as it has been passed down from coty to Elizabeth Arden and then Revlon.

These are different, but there is an overall similar vibe with dewy, floral-pear. Curious has a forward magnolia note, that's not present in 18 Sensual. 18 Sensual is closer to J'Adore Dior. Roughly equivalent performance. Recently bought this from fragrancenet (which I've been buying from for years and never had a bad or fake bottle of anything). This has to have been reformulated. Smelled awful. More like a cologne version. I don't know how to explain it. Just not feminine, clean, soft, and pretty like it used to be. These are different, but there are similarities with being magnolia forward scents. L'Instant de Guerlain plays up the voluptuous, creamy white-floral aspects of magnolia, with a touch of animalics. Curious takes the magnolia in a more aquatic, fruity direction with pear but still has a touch of creamy white-floral from tuberose. L'Instant de Guerlain EDT outperforms. As a side note, the tuberourse in this gives a true “I am a rich person smell” it’s very close to Heartless Helen by Penhaligons. If you enjoy that and want to save money I really suggest you try this. Now, at 27, Curious smells so tame and delicate, so girlish in its fruitness. The soft skin of a fresh pear. The comforting vanilla. Even the white flowers smell fresh instead of decadent.

Curiously (ha!), on most days jasmine is my sworn enemy as it gives me an instantaneous headache (but there are a handful of exceptions so I'm assuming it's the concentration of jasmine in a given product that determines whether I can tolerate it or not as opposed to the jasmine itself), but here despite the many different floral elements it never come across as overbearing, thanks to the heavy cloud of sweetness that sits on top. I'm not overly keen on white florals for the most part, but it's for that reason I'd really recommend this to people that would like to add a floral perfume to their rotation but like myself often find them overbearing or headache-inducing. The way Curious toes the line between Lots Of Floral and "Argh!! Too Much Floral!!" is masterfully done. LONGEVITY: In my hair, I could detect it 5-6 hours later, but it is faint. I don't mind reapplying as it is so inexpensive. This smells like the tail of a Barbie mermaid, a woman’s bossom. It’s feminine in the most atemporal way. I can see a person wearing this in the 1950s as much as in 2004 (when it was released). Layering it with BBW Magnolia Charm is a game changer. Magnolia Charm on its own I find a little too sweet, and for me, sweet and floral don’t go well together, but it lends warmth and sweetness to Curious which could otherwise come across as crisp and cold. Magnolia as a flower apparently also smells soapy, and when I layer these two together, I smell like I have just taken a shower with a floral soap. It does quite long and is perfect to wear on hot humid days when I want a scent bubble that makes me feel fresh and clean!

But now, in my 30s this is the holy grail, ultimate gorgeous gorgeous scent. There’s truly nothing else like it. It’s addictive in it’s sweetness without being over the top and cloying. It’s beautiful and sensual. This is such a unique use of vanilla, its creamy but oh so delicate balanced by an aquatic note that makes it fresh and airy. To me this is a Britney, in a luxurious hotel room surrounded by expensive vanilla candles and clean designer bed sheets, but she herself is understated in simple dark jeans and a delicate white lace cami, her blonde hair lays in loose curls with only a swipe of mascara and pink gloss because she’s naturally so pretty. It’s sweet but not juvenile, sophisticated but …curious, its not a girl not yet a woman. My first encounter with Curious was as pre-teen. I was a Britney Spears fan and got so excited when I found out she had her own perfume line. I fell in love with Fantasy and its sparkly pink bottle. I loved the way it smelled. I loved glitter, sparkles, vanilla, candy, bubblegum. Fantasy spoke to this private world where everything was pretty, fluffly and cute. not be liable for any direct, indirect or consequential loss or damage arising under these terms and I digress. Curious is a sweet, airy light scent. The scent of what I imagine a country club in Louisiana would smell like with lush southern magnolias, and vanilla florals.
