About this deal

I was also a little confused at first as to when this story was set. There are references to 80s films The Neverending story and The Lost boys. A film from 2007 and The Andy Griffith show from the 1960s but Stacie has a mobile phone and it’s definitely at least 2007 so I’ve decided it is modern day ish and stopped trying to work it out. Cruel Illusion è stata la perfetta lettura per il periodo di Halloween! In questo libro non mancano i vampiri, un maestoso circo, mille spettacoli e tantissima magia!

From the outset we had a mysterious trial, the age-old battle of good and evil and a clear sense of characters striving to do their best in very trying circumstances. There’s magic, darkness and a clear des Parker and Ava Perry. We share a last name. It should be me and him, with everyone else on the outside. Jacob’s the bio-kid of the house. He doesn’t need Parker the way I do. But I keep my feelings off my face these days. When we first got here, Parker and Jacob bonded instantly over video games and Star Wars and zombies. They acted like they’d been friends forever. Or brothers. But I noticed Parker cutting his laughs short when I was in the room and looking at me like I was a fragile thing his laughter might hurt. It did. It does. But I want this for him. I’m glad he loves it here. She takes out a pair of dark-wash jeans, loose and baggy. I only wear them that way or tight and stretchy enough to feel like skin—both work for running in a pinch. She glances at my face and takes my silence as confirmation that they’re okay. Her imperfect character and the potential intriguing me. Her emotions struggles and actions seem real. I love to see that sometime new skills is hard to earned and the process is overwhelmed. She makes mistakes, alot and she always tried do her best at each bad conditions. Since a reveal 10 years prior, and then swift disappearance, Ava has always believed in Vampires and also the existence of real magic, even though her mother always told her there was no such thing. Parker loves that photo, but I can’t look at it without picturing the way I found her body. And it’s already so ingrained in my mind that I don’t need the extra help.

Cruel Illusions is one of those books which consistently surprises you. There’s vampires and magic, family secrets and revenge. The magic was fascinating to me because it merges illusion magic with this idea of receiving our magic from the applause of others. People almost ‘feed’ our magic. This becomes a very interesting juxtaposition with the vampires. They obviously feed off the blood of others. Immediately, Cruel Illusions begins to complicate this dynamic.I think it was necessary for her to confirm her mom’s past (troupe members, confirming real magic, the warning that if she had a family life after the troupe that she probably deserted & the repercussions of that choice, etc). I’m leaning more towards team Roman! I like his personality more and while he doesn’t seem “good” he does seem more moral and loyal to me, which I like!

Grazie a Netgalley, Hodder&Stoughton e Margie Fuston per avermi fornito questo libro in anteprima in cambio di una recensione onesta. Dinner,” I yell up the stairs. I head straight for the kitchen and pull out a bowl of leftover spaghetti from the refrigerator and plop it in the microwave. I tap my fingers on the tiled countertop as I wait. Please be warned, the following section will include spoilers for Cruel Illusions by Margie Fuston from the beginning to Chapter 6. Please only read on if you have finished this section! –!SPOILERS!- When you’ve finished today’s section, catch up with me in the comments down below so we can discuss the beginning of the book. Happy reading! Blood Magic: Since magic in magic users hums underneath the skin and is felt in the blood, blood letting helps to increase the abilities of its user. The more blood spilt from a person, the more powerful the spells. Eventually, it gets to a point where the magic users push themselves to the brink of death through blood letting and become immortal (their magician blood is all used up and instead they gain a hunger for the blood of others to replenish themselves, becoming vampires).

Magician Xander tells Ava to not "Go all Buffy on him". He also jokes that he does think that Buffy"s Xander kinda deserved to be stabbed. Nonetheless, Cruel Illusions is worth a shot to satiate your next YA Vampire mood but want a little twist. And Bonus points for this being a Standalone! Lastly, some people said this book was too simple. I disagree. I found the novel to be appropriate for the age group, with enough complexity to be interesting. There were several moments with plot twists and surprises and I think they propelled the story forward. Overall, I felt this story was appropriate for the age group it was marketed towards.
