About this deal

Use Bronze, Copper or Brass with Pool Chlorine Painted on and left in a Chlorine Chamber. For a Aged Brown Patina:

I decided to use four metals that are most commonly used when fabricating household decor: Bronze, Iron, Copper and Brass. A Safety Note:Create a fresh unique look for your own vehicle or for you clients with the liquid metal paints in the range. Our paints are easy to use and produce an exclusive, professional and expensive looking coating that is bound to be a talking point for years to come. Not to say I have delved into this widely as yet. My research proved that there are so many different ways to produce sometimes surprising colours. For the sake of this blog, though, I thought it would be more fun – and accessible – to explore what household chemicals can do to create patinas. I love seeing a plain, boring, dull bit of metal transform into something beautiful. Chemistry truly is one of nature’s decorators. It’s fascinating how you can achieve different colours using different chemicals.

Cast Iron - Cast iron was first used by the Chinese though became much more widely available in Europe in medieval times. In the 1700's a coke fired blast furnace was invented which made cast iron production much cheaper and lead to the beginnings of the industrial revolution. As iron became more plentiful and cheaper, it became a major component in industry and structural engineering with the first iron bridge being completed in 1778.Our liquid metal paints can be applied onto almost any surface to add a little metallic flare to your artistic creations. Alter the level of shine on the surface to specifically suit your artwork. Want to add gravitas and a traditional look to a piece of art? Why not coat it in liquid brass paint in the style of the old masters. Want an industrial, raw look? How about trying the deep grey of our iron paint or the clean lighter tones or our tin paint. Automotive Spray Painters Once you have achieved a patina you like, rinse off your piece with water to prevetn further patination and leave it to dry completely. Here are my recommendations for how to patina metals based on my experiments: Colours: For a Deep, Bright Turquoise and Blue Verdigris: Once your paint is fully dry, it’s time for the really fun stuff – corroding the metal powder to create the patina – scroll down for more about this. Keen gardeners can create beautiful objects to compliment their green-fingered world with our real metal range. The warm tones of copper flatter the great outdoors’ emerald hues perfectly. Be the toast of the garden design world and complete a rugged, industrial look with the greys of Iron and Tin. Artists

Step 1 – Lightly scuff up the surface using sandpaper or a sanding pad. You don’t need to roughen it up much. It’s just to give the medium something to grab onto. Wrought Iron - Wrought iron is the simpler of the two processes as it does not require the technology to get the iron to very high temperatures to melt it. Samples of worked meteoric iron have been found in Syria from around 3500 BC. Iron from meteors was highly regarded as iron sent down from the heavens. There is even mention of the substance several times in the bible, with it first being mentioned in the Book of Genesis. Patination and rusting are, at it’s simplest, the result of oxidation of the metal. Some chemicals can accelerate the oxidation alongside other chemicals.

Where Does Metallic Paint Work Best?

industry, due to their large range of desirable industrial properties and the widespread abundance of naturally occurring iron ore. Pure iron used in industry is known as either wrought iron or cast iron depending on the method used to process it. Wrought iron is iron that has been heated and then worked into a shape whereas cast iron is heated to its melting point and then poured as a liquid into a pre-made mould. With this technique, it’s not so bad if the surface is a bit rough, because the paint will cover it, and the patina process always adds a lot of texture anyway. Step 1 – Measure out the powder into a cup. The amount you will need will depend on the size of your project. If in doubt, mix a small amount to begin with – you can easily mix more. And its not just a smooth metal finish you can achieve, you can age the coating with our antiquing solution to add yet another unique finish to your repertoire. Popular with the U.S. Rat Rod customising community, the aged metal look doesn’t look like its going to fade at all in 2016, in fact we see its popularity going through the roof. Why not offer your customers a new style that they may not have seen before in the UK or may not have known they could achieve without travelling across the pond.
