The LEGO Watch System is a comprehensive collection of timepieces, all of which feature interchangeable bezels and bracelet links just like LEGO’s kids watches. They are perfectly scaled-up versions of their minifigure counterparts, and stand about 10"/25cm tall.

It is a very high quality timepiece and if big, chunky plastic watches are your thing, you'll love it.

It uses a combination of Lego technic pieces to form the axis and Lego system bricks to build the surprisingly successful spherical shape, and we loved the glow-in-the-dark tiles used on oceans and continents. Builder tip: Count twice when connecting the 74 tiny links that make up part of the mechanism that operates the elevator freefall. And personally, as an actual engineer, I've no time for a watch that can't get the date right from one month to the next. Lego released two Indiana Jones–themed sets in 2023 aimed at kids, along with Temple of the Golden Idol, a diorama for ages 18 and up with five action sequences (six if you include an eerie spotlight on the idol) that highlight key moments from the iconic opening scene of Raiders of the Lost Ark.

Additional minifigs build out the full Fellowship of nine, along with elders like Elrond, Galadriel, and Glóin, plus a couple of extra elves for a total of 15 characters and an additional six minifigs in the form of statues representing famous elves of yore. In addition to a classic figure two alternative heads are provided, so you can switch them out to suit your mood. Overall, it’s a great set for anyone who fancies a challenge and has always dreamed about owning their very own Ferrari. Don’t feel like you need to count every individual piece right after you purchase a set, but it’s wise to open the box and do a quick check for anything major, such as a missing bag or absent stickers, so that your build doesn’t come to a screeching halt after you’ve finally carved time out of your schedule to relax into the project. There’s a painting of Uncle Leo on the wall, a fridge with a Superman magnet, giant pretzels, a blue statue and even a goldfish in a bag.

It's great being able to customise it, but as you can see it's a bit garish with the blue strap and orange bezel, for example. As an added bonus, it’s sturdy enough to be played with once built instead of just left out on show – if you’ll let them near it. As a side note, I've never heard of that Baby G brand here in the States, but again, I haven't been in the market for a new watch in ages.
