About this deal

We have added MD5define field to make the upgrade under iOS version to be stable(Now can not support Android Online); The battery life is good, and I charged it once when I got it six weeks ago. But, as my editor pointed out, this is normal for new devices. However, I am still on one battery bar after six weeks. So even if I have to charge once per month, that’s pretty impressive. I find this troublesome because it assumes that everyone will intuitively know where to put the hub to reach your IR devices or where to place blasters. The FAQs do touch briefly on the use of the IR blasters, but I find it inadequate. Without belaboring the point, you are on your own if you need help with anything aside from programming the hub. Non-tech people who have no experience with hub-based remotes will struggle. If you are one of those people, be prepared to do a lot of Internet searches for guides and walk-throughs. Sofabaton X1 Build Quality

Another limitation I disliked is that the SofaBaton X1 has very limited support of IP-controlled devices. My Sony television is IP-controlled and can do IR if needed. The X1 will not control that TV via IP, and the documentation shows IP support for just a few devices. Replacing my venerable Harmony with like for like functionality. Firstly it does everything the Harmony does and the setup process is similar setting up devices then activities. I found the device database is a bit thin compared with harmony and I’ve needed to do some teaching of commands. There is less help on device startup delays than harmony and these need to be set up manually for each activity. The actual software to set it up is app based and it’s generally quite stable. The X1 remote is well made and has just enough buttons, I’d like number buttons but can get away without. I have found the IR repeaters a bit weak and with harmony I used the broadcast one outside the cabinet, for sofabaton I’ve had to reverse this step.

Customer reviews

One thing not mentioned in your review: there is no Help button right on the face of the remote like there was on Harmony remotes. But there is a “Fix” function within the “Set” menu. But when I tried to use it, it was not at all intuitive! By means of technological, Sofabaton has been dedicated to benefiting all new and old customers in remote control challenges since its establishment in 2015. History of Sofabaton Remote Control So the million-dollar question. Do I recommend the Sofabaton X1 as a worthy successor to Harmony? As I said before, yes. It is not as polished as the Elite. But this is Sofabaton’s SECOND remote control. That’s right, folks. They are probably 90%+ of the functionality of the Harmony Elite after their second remote. I expect that there with be a Sofabaton X2 or X1 (ver 2) that will give you a touch screen or some other enhancements. Plus, I am certain that they will get all the bugs worked out.

The setup is also a lot better. Originally, setting up any device was, in a word, terrible. The codebase was limited and buggy, and navigating the choices was not straightforward. Now it is a breeze. I got a new Apple TV 4K (review on the way) and setup took less than a minute and there was were no quirks like before. Somewhere in the 13 revisions, they got it right. You have to now switch to a different Activity, at which point, the X1 will send appropriate commands for you AVR, being “aware” that it is actually Off when it should have been On. So if this new Activity requires the AVR to be On, it will send the Power On command, because now it’s “aware” that the AVR was Off.Sofabaton is still very committed to the remote. One year later, we are up to Rev.13 on the Hub firmware, Rev.9 on the remote, and Ver 3.3.1 of the mobile app. That’s a lot of updates in one year. And their codebase is getting pretty expansive. I added some older gear to it, and it had the codes for it. The Sofabaton app allows you to share your codebase for learned commands. So effectively, the community is contributing to the whole codebase. I haven’t had to learn any commands yet, but if I do, I will share them with the community. When the remote control is synchronizing device information, the APP can also upgrade after receiving the HUB upgrade prompt. So I am not going to lie; I was very disappointed when Logitech finally announced it was killing the Harmony line of remotes and hubs. Although they had teased killing it for years prior, we Audio Enthusiasts never thought this day would happen. Anywho, so here we are, and Harmony is no more.Enter the Sofabaton X1, the only hub-based remote on the market that anyone is talking about. Universal remotes have become less popular in recent years, as HDMI and CEC (Consumer Electronics Control)have been more widely adopted by TV makers. This technology allows the remote that comes with your TV to control more devices itself, which obviates the need for a third-party universal remote. Still, universal remotes can prove handy, especially if you have older components. How to choose the best universal remote

To treat people with sincerity, handle things with faith and justice, respect the facts, and do what we say in society, customers and employees. Preserve Passion Absent is a numeric pad to allow you to input channels or other functions that may need numbers. I have been a cord-cutter for at least four years now, so this doesn’t bother me. But, I could see this being a deal-breaker for someone who uses the number pad for TV channel input vs. the on-screen menus. But I really don’t consider that a “Fix”. And it isn’t anywhere near as useful and intuitive as Harmony’s Help button. In fact, I’ll bet you’re super confused from what I just wrote! So…yeah…try teaching THAT to your mom – haha The IR issues occurred with every IR device (e.g., Integra receiver, Sony TV). It is a deal-breaker and I returned the SofaBaton. They also have improved the IR remote learning function. I have not had any issues finding a code for my devices, but I tried to teach the Sofabaton X1 commands, which worked for me this time. However, learning commands is still imperfect, requiring you to play with the remotes positioning. But the Sofabaton X1 was able to learn them successfully. Still Not Working

The hub is the heart of the Sofabaton X1. The hub handles all the IR, wi-fi, and Bluetooth commands for your entire system. You heard me right; the remote is nothing but a wireless connection to your hub that gives you tactile buttons for essential functions and allows you to map your frequently used commands to a specific key. As mentioned last month, our X1 remote V9 and Hub V13 are ready to use now.By the way,for WiFi version, due to the firmware database did not include WiFi version before, that's why you only can see the version keeps as 0.0.0,but it will not effect your using no matter which WiFi version is,thanks for your attention. We will focus on the WiFi upgrading next time to be 2.0.8,thank you for your understanding. The image I showed you is the one for our test ,but the version did not finally release, thanks for your patience. I do think some people remember the Harmony software with rose tinted specs, it was never great and SofaBatons version is on a par and more stable these days.

Customer Always Comes First I will say that setting your WiFi and Bluetooth devices with the Sofabaton X1 is the simplest I have encountered to date. It took me three tries and some Google-Fu to get my Nvidia Shield paired with my Harmony. With the X1 app, I selected the Nvidia Shield and then found the Sofabaton under the pairing menu on the Shield. Perfect the first time. Same with my Philips Hue. It found my Hub and connected it in 30 seconds. Unfortunately, it didn’t see all my lights. More on that later.
