About this deal

I have to be honest and say that I wish that Evergreen had used metal for the spread controls instead of plastic, but as long as you’re not super heavy-handed, the plastic is decent enough quality not to break easily. The adjustment is very simple, the higher the number, the wider the holes in the bottom of the hopper – when set to 9 you can see cear daylight through and will be releasing a lot of seed or feed: The largely steel construction has been powder coated to fight off adverse weather effects, and has been done to a high quality and should last. The frame itself feels very strong too, so you can forgive the extra weight that comes with it, and with those pneumatic wheels doing their job, you don’t notice it that much anyway. These kinds of spreaders will automatically throw out and granular feed as you push the tool along across your lawn, and will increase the width of this the faster you walk. At an average pace, the spreading width is around 150-180cm, but it can be as much as 340cm with a little effort. Of course, the downside to any battery-powered tool is that the battery will eventually run out, but these days it is not as bad as it once was, with even the smallest 1.5Ah Li-ion batteries giving you a good couple of hours of usage on a single charge. The answer affects a lot in the case of the Scotts spreader settings conversion chart. Another question is regarding your lawn type.

Scotts EvenGreen Drop Spreader has a drop bar beneath the fertiliser hopper that turns with the axle. This bar has rows of granule-sized indentations along it that are filled from the hopper as it turns. It delivers granules in rows immediately under the spreader as it is wheeled along A little perseverance and patience saw me through it though, and I was very pleased with the fully assembled product at the end and thought it was worth the effort. Use our easy-to-use spreader settings table to set Scotts® and EverGreen® spreaders correctly when using our products. Any other advice? The hopper has been made out of polypropylene for durability reasons and is a very resilient and hard-wearing material in of itself, so there’s no reason why it shouldn’t last as long as the rest of this robust tool. From a height perspective, I am 5 foot 9, I had no problem using this, my daughter considerably shorter, again no problem, it’s more about the angle change.People tend to go for these kinds of spreaders because they are low cost, easy to use and there is less chance of accidentally putting too much fertiliser down and killing off parts of your lawn. The advantage of a drop spreader is that you have much more control over where the contents are being put down, and this makes them better for using on the edges of lawns or near garden ponds so you don’t contaminate the water accidentally with chemicals. However, this article gives you recommended settings for many of our products depending on which spreader you’re using. If yours isn’t listed or the suggested settings don’t match your spreader , then please let us know using the comments below. I’ll be happy to help in any way I can. It has a max spread width of 0.53 m, so achieves an accurate application and everything is kept firmly under control. However, because of this, it may be a better choice for smaller lawns, or perhaps medium spaces, rather than large areas.

To obtain even coverage, spread half the required amount in a north-south direction, then the other half in an east-west direction Ideally, you want to find the perfect balance between ‘as few refills as possible’ and ‘maintaining manoeuvrability’. This will depend on the size of your lawn and the density of product that you want to spread. The trigger to operate the tool is situated on the centre of the handlebar and below that are the variable distribution controls that are clearly marked, if a little on the small side, just like the rotary model by the same makers. Because the outer edges of each broad strip receive slightly less granules than the core centre, you should overlap the strips by approximately 30cm (1ft). This will ensure even greening to the whole area. If, after reading the end of that previous review, you think you would prefer something that is much simpler to put together, the Scotts EvenGreen drop spreader might be something that piques your interest.

The Gardena features a good-sized carry handle that has two of the main controls situated on it. On top is a button you press with your thumb to open up the hole and allow the contents to flow through to the spreading mechanism, and on the front of the handle is a selector switch with four settings that controls how much fertilizer will be allowed to pass through when the thumb button is pressed. This lawn spreader is made of polyethylene which is a durable and easy to clean material. When you are done working, just hose the spreader down and store it – it’s that easy. It comes with a spreading width of over three metres and is suitable for areas up to 2,300m 2 The spreader rests on 25cm air tires that have good traction and don’t leave imprints on the lawn. A rotary lawn spreader, sometimes referred to as a ‘broadcast spreader’, works by flinging fertiliser/grass seed out as its rotator spins. A rotary lawn seed spreader will allow you to cover more area in less time, quite desirable if you have a larger lawn. Their placement is very uniform because they will only drop seeds through the hole in the base of the unit’s hopper.

I can assume you are already planning to get it for your large lawn. No doubt, you will get better support to make your garden healthy. 3. Scotts Handy Spreader The most efficient way to feed the lawn because all of the fertiliser is delivered directly on to the lawn
