There are two leading kinds of resin for bonding, Aromatic Resin and Aliphatic Resin and both have different properties and use. Wet Pour Surfacing Wet pour surfaces are an impact-absorbing, rubber crumb floor covering which is traditionally used in playgrounds, parks and other recreational areas. Easihold will work on a patio which isn't to receive furniture. Easihold is great for occasional walking and light traffic. But for a busy patio, or a patio with furniture, we would recommend our Resin Bound Kits.

We would recommend between 4mm and 10mm diameter for the best bond. But you can use stones up to 15mm and still achieve good results. Even larger stones can be bonded if clean and angular, but we wouldn't recommend for any foot traffic. It takes 12-16 hours for the EasiHold Resin to cure, faster in summer, slower in winter, as curing is affected by ambient temperature. After all, it won't do in the slightest to see the garden walk-path shimmer under 4 inches of water after a hard rain, or to play driveway basketball in galoshes. If you're concerned about flooding, do be certain to use a permeable pour on binder.Changes in temperature and humidity can have an effect on the application process and the time it would take to cure. If there is a prediction of rain or it's very damp, then the application should not be done. If there is a chance of rain within 24-hours of the application it is advisable to cover up the resin to protect it and prevent water from reacting with the uncured resin. Again, it's always advisable to follow the guidelines set by the manufacturer and what suitable conditions should be. A 50/50 combination of recycled SBR rubber and washed & dried natural-coloured aggregate mixed with the PermaBound SG resin binder produces a unique system that creates seamless, durable, fully SuDs compliant and low-maintenance surfaces. By combining the strength, durability and attractiveness of natural stone aggregate with the flexibility of rubber, this innovative paving solution can be utilised for a number of applications including pathways, cycling paths, tree pits, patio areas and so much more. The Soft Gravel mixture ratio is 13% of PermaBound SG resin binder to the combined rubber and aggregate blend weight total (kg) which is mixed together in a forced action mixer to ensure a consistent material is produced, where all of your rubber and aggregate has been suitably coated and is ready to be installed. GravelHold can be poured from a watering can, using around 1 litre per square metre. Ensure your stones are evenly coated for best results. A sprinkler rose should be used to ensure distribution. Or, if desired, 3mm diameter holes can be drilled into the lid of the GravelHold container to create a sprinkler effect and be used similarly to a watering can.

Easihold can be poured from a watering can. We recommend using a maximum of 1 litre per 12 sq. ft. (around 3 fl. oz. per sq. ft.), ensuring your stones are evenly coated. Ensure you use a watering can with a steady flow that is dispersing the Easihold liquid evenly across the stones. A permeable binder keeps stones and gravel sealed while allowing liquids to pass through. This prevents water from flooding the surface and making you wish you'd just left those stones alone. Note: laying loose, that is *unbound*, gravel or small aggregate over a hard base is never a good idea. Read the FAQ to find out more. Excess saturation may prevent the resin from drying properly. Use an applicator such as a watering can for controlled flow. PermaBound SG is a high-quality moisture-curing binder created specifically for rubber flooring systems, including rubber mulch and soft gravel. This single-component MDI polyurethane binder sets new benchmarks for performance, combining high-tensile strength, permeability, flexibility, and non-slip properties. This is a Clear UV Stable polyurethane resin that is great for all applications and is not affected by sunlight. Which means it will not change color allowing aggregates to retain their best appearance. This resin will not fade but it is more expensive.

Another method is applying the resin over an appropriate base using a squeegee then scatter the aggregate over it before the resin sets. DIY enthusiasts appreciate the ease of installing Gravel-Lok throughout their property. Available in clear and amber UV-treated formulas, its permeable structure allows proper drainage without discoloring stones and glass. This is a Non UV Stable polyurethane resin used in both resin bound and bonded applications. It will be affected by sunlight by changing the color to a darker shade and is typically used for darker aggregates or for non-decorative applications. It is also less expensive than the Aliphatic UV Stable Resin.
