For our test we used a 205/55 x 16 tyre.

Ring RAC900 - Practical Caravan

a T connector with an isolating valve with a push fitting connector, and a length of air hose with a tyre inflator would be required.. I had this on my RV which had air brakes and self levelling suspension.. In using them, we could also determine if their power leads and air hoses were long enough – longer ones make the units easier to position and cordless ones are even better. We also found that the screw-on style couplings were the best and easiest to use.PROFESSIONAL-GRADE TYRE INFLATOR: used by the UK’s leading breakdown professionals. The RAC900 features anti-vibration rubber mounted feet for stable placement when inflating a tyre, thermal overload protection, waterproof on/off switch so it can be used in all weather conditions and inline fuse to protect vehicle electronics. So my “slave battery “ option is not unreasonable, but has payload issues, if you have payload issues with your van. The underlying concept is good advice, but I would use a pair of Anderson, standard grey SB50 connectors, and include an adequately rated fuse close to the positive battery pole. The average car battery may have a capacity, when new, of 50 Ampere Hours, i.e. if you connected a device that would draw 25 amps (and the RAC900 draws 23 amps) the battery would be drained in 2 hours. I’ve always noticed that pressure gauges attached to pumps give incorrect readings. I suspect the dynamic pressure in the pipe from the pump is greater than the static pressure in the tyre.

Ring RAC900 Air Compressor gets 4.5 Stars from Auto Express

With the RING Automotive Air Compressor RAC900 the hose is attached by screwing the brass Schrader valve attachment onto the valve until it seals against a sealing ring. The valve attachment has a push and turn mechanism to allow the tyre to be deflated when the pressure is too high while the compressor is still attached to the wheel valve. The compressor comes with an instruction label attached to the pipe but it may rip off easily.I connected the pump and switched on.. the gauge pressure shot up.. but no air was going into the tyre.. Puzzled, I had a look and found that there was no pin in the inflator connector to open the tyre valve.. so air could never go in..

The inflation rate quoted is ‘under four minutes to get a tyre from flat to 35PSI’. By contrast, the Ring RAC900, for instance, takes just one minute and 40 seconds to inflate a tyre to 35PSI.IDEAL FOR LARGER VEHICLES: this powerful air compressor is ideal for inflating high pressure tyres. It also comes with 7m extendable airline, which can stretch the full length of a motorhome or transit van. It's about 2ft long and takes up more space than a compressor but really easy to use IMO no leads to move around. also use it on the bikes !
