About this deal

Saturn 2 includes 12 new distortion styles, a radically overhauled and expanded modulation system, enhanced envelopes, linear phase processing, and a new ‘Superb’ High-Quality mode. The new distortion styles, nearly twice as many, included ‘Subtle’ versions of the Tape, Tube, and Saturation styles for warmth and four new guitar amplifiers, three Transformer styles. All of this means that you use Saturn 2 for everything from sweetening a mix bus through to guitar amp simulation. The proven software ChiTuBox allows you to generate high-quality print files in the storage-friendly .ctb format. File size is reduced by up to 90% - despite 8x anti-aliasing for smoother print surfaces. There was a large payload gap between the Saturn IB's 46,000-pound (21,000kg) low Earth orbit capacity and the Saturn V's 310,000-pound (140,000kg) capability. It is best to start by removing the model above the resin tank. I found that using the metal spatula on the build plate worked quite well. The reason you want to remove the model first is to avoid dripping any resin onto the LCD screen, which is very difficult, if not impossible to remove once hardened.

Equipped with a 10" 8K monochrome LCD, the Saturn 2 achieves extremely high printing speeds without loss of detail - despite the huge build space. Thanks to the high resolution of 7680 x 4320, all the finer points of a 3D object are also visible on the printed model. The sophisticated cooling system also increases the service life of the monochrome LCD. The display is additionally protected from impacts by a pre-installed, hardened (9H) protective film. The Elegoo Saturn 2 includes a pretty standard array of accessories that many other Elegoo resin printers ship with including tools such as the diagonal cutters for support removal as well as the metal and plastic spatulas. Before any version could be put into production, work on all Saturn variants was stopped in favor of launching all future payloads from the Space Shuttle.Using a Fresnel converging lens, the light beams emitted by the 48 built-in LEDs are parallelised, resulting in an extremely uniform exposure at a light wavelength of 405 nm. Your printing results are characterised by amazing printing accuracy and smooth surfaces. For this study, the Boeing company also investigated configurations designated INT-20 and INT-21 which employed its S-IC first stage, and eliminated either North American's S-II second stage, or the Douglas S-IVB third stage. Budget constraints led to cancellation of the study and exclusive use of the Space Shuttle for orbital payloads. The Saturn INT-17 was the first version of the Saturn II to be considered. It replaced the first stage's five J-2 engines with seven higher thrust HG-3-SL engines, giving 1,334,000 pounds-force (5,930kN) of sea level thrust. It would burn a reduced S-II propellant load of 986,000 pounds (447,000kg) in 200 seconds. The vehicle had a LEO payload capability of 92,000 pounds (42,000kg) with a gross weight of 1,112,000 pounds (504,000kg). The reduced payload permitted a savings of 660 pounds (300kg) in structural weight, and omitting the S-IVB restart capability saved 1,500 pounds (700kg). [3]

Prints can and eventually do fail even on resin printers, though I did not experience any failed prints on the Saturn 2 myself. Whether it happens due to support structures that are unable to support the mass or any number of other things, you still will have a mess to clean up before you can print again. The Saturn INT-19 would have used smaller solid boosters, derived from the first stage of the Minuteman missile, to supplement the thrust of the S-II. Eleven configurations were studied, using between four and twelve solids, with some being started at lift-off, and some being started in flight, and varying propellant loads in the Saturn stages. The S-II stage would have been modified by refitting the J-2–SL engines with reduced expansion ratio nozzles, to increase sea level thrust to 174,400 pounds-force (776kN) per engine. The highest total impulse configuration would have used twelve boosters, with eight started at launch and four started after the first group had been jettisoned. It would have been capable of lofting a payload of 75,400 pounds (34,200kg). [1] In the mid-1960s NASA's Marshall Space Flight Center (MSFC) initiated several studies to extend the capabilities of the Saturn family. NASA specified a LEO of 100 nautical miles (185km), 28° inclination for payload calculations, and the studies examined a number of Modified Launch Vehicle (MLV) configurations based on the Saturn IB and Saturn V launch vehicles as well as Intermediate Payload (INT) launch vehicles based on modified Saturn V stages (MS-IC, MS-II, and MS-IVB). To get your model prepared, you will want to place the model at an angle. Placing models at an angle makes it much easier to remove them from the build platform without damage in the process. It also gives more surface area for supports to hold on so the model is less likely to fall during printing.

Elegoo’s highest resolution printer yet

After that, run a tank clean cycle through the printer’s menu, which will expose the entire bottom layer of the tray to UV light and create a solid mass of any little pieces that may have broken off of the failed print. You may consider adding a piece of removed support from a previous print to one corner first to make removal of the mass easier.

It also comes with a set of hex key wrenches and some spare screws in case any servicing or repairs need to be performed during the printer’s lifetime. There are two pairs of latex gloves and two surgical style masks for personal protection, but you will probably want to get some higher quality masks and additional gloves for working with resin.

The sandblasted build platform guarantees the highest possible adhesion of the print result - the risk of detached, unfinished prints is minimised in this way. The air purifier can be operated with an activated carbon filter via the USB port, effectively filtering odours and vapours. For the first model, I went with the Tower of Pi to show basic slicing. This one is fairly straightforward since it doesn’t have any large solid sections, but it also has a lot of detail making it a great demonstration of a resin printer. Once that is complete and you have removed the hardened resin, you should empty the resin tank. The plastic spatula works well to assist with this. Emptying the resin first allows you to inspect the FEP film as well. If it gets too damaged, you may need to replace it before continuing. Endless modulation options, with all the 16-step XLFOs, XY controllers/sliders, envelope generators,

Monochrome LCD】 ELEGOO Saturn 2 adopts a 10-inch 8K mono LCD screen with an HD resolution of 7680x4320 and an ultra-fine XY resolution of 28.5 microns, outputting outstandingly detailed 3D models with a cure time of only 1-3s per layer. The scratch-resistant tempered glass above the LCD screen with 9H hardness for better light transmission and protection. Larger than Saturn's Printing Volume】With a build volume of 219x123x250mm / 8.62x4.84x9.84 inch and a 10” large mono LCD screen make the prototype size larger and the curing efficiency higher, you can print one larger model or multiple smaller models in a single batch. The Saturn 2 is equipped with dual linear rails along the Z-axis, which ensure high stability. The movements of the build platform run smoothly. The MSLA 3D printer allows you a Z-axis resolution of up to 0.00125 mm. With some of Elegoo’s earlier printers, this guessing has yielded softer prints that were often gouged with the spatula upon removal. It appears that the company has increased the exposure time with the latest test prints, so it takes a bit longer, but the model is less likely to be damaged. The metal spatula is for helping to remove your prints from the build plate and you want to be careful while doing so, as it can potentially gouge or scuff the metal surface. The soft spatula is used more as a tool for cleanup such as assisting with removing any residual resin out of the resin tank when emptying. It doesn't matter whether it's a large-format model or several small objects - with a build volume of 219 x 123 x 250 mm, there are hardly any limits to your creativity! Take just a little time to get to know Saturn 2 and you’ll find that creating complex, multiband treatments with macros controlling multiple parameters is genuinely useful when finding the sweet spot when adding colour to your productions. After you have your printer all set up, you can load a model to slice. Slicing with a resin printer is quite a bit different from slicing for a traditional FDM printer. Since the model is printed upside down and is printed used liquid resin, there are additional things you need to take into account such as drainage holes, the weight of the item you are printing so it doesn’t fall off the build plate, and even where the supports attach so that when they are removed, you don’t remove delicate details.
