About this deal

This piece must touch the corner of a similarly coloured tile, but may not be placed so that edges of the player’s shapes are touching each other.

Leaks are all squares around a played piece that cannot be used later on by pieces of the same color but can be played by other players.

If you were able to place all of the 21 pieces on the board, you get an additional 15 points and, if doing so you managed to put your “1” piece last, you add another 5 points to that 15.

This version included solo play and multiplayer options, integrating the users' Facebook and Game Center friends and allowing them to compete on a tournament leaderboard. If you would like to change your settings or withdraw consent at any time, the link to do so is in our privacy policy accessible from our home page.A player earns +15 points if all his/her pieces have been placed on the board plus 5 additional bonus points if the last piece placed on the board was the smallest piece (one square). The game received an international release in 2008, under the name Blokus Portable: Steambot Championship. The score is set by adding all of your color blocks placed on the board and subtracting the blocks left in your hand (those that you weren’t able to put).

They are manufactured from tough plastic and even after years of gameplay still look as good as new. Make sure the tile doesn’t touch sides with any piece that’s the same color, or else it’s an illegal move. Whenever a player is unable to place one of his/her remaining pieces on the board, that player must pass his/her turn. The problem with the Barasona is that, while it provides a disincentive for other players to move towards your unprofitable corner, the moment the other players realize this they will probably all start using the Barasona themselves, and you’re back to square one. Winning at Blokus (pronounced “Block us”) is not as simple as placing random pieces on the board trying to block your opponents and expecting your opponents not to block you as hard as you did to them. The game requires a strategy to plan upfront, read your opponents’ moves and tactics, know when to play each piece, avoid mistakes, and leave no room for your opponents to score points on your behalf. If you have control of the center of the board, then you have more opportunities and space to play the rest of your tiles. Try to use your tiles that have 5 squares earlier in the game so you have room to play them and spread out on the board.

The only caveat to placing a piece is that it may not lie adjacent to your other pieces, but instead must be placed touching at least one corner of your pieces already on the board. Mattel discontinued the online game on May 18, 2012, stating it did not meet its playability standards. However, players need to be of a certain mind-set to enjoy playing Blokus multiple times in one setting. If the last piece played was a monomino, provided that all pieces of own color have been played, the player is awarded a 20-point bonus instead. If you see two players attacking and blocking each other on their side of the board, you could land a lot of points as long as you can semi-cooperate with the remaining player. It was designed by French mathematician Bernard Tavitian [2] and first released in 2000 by Sekkoïa, a French company.
