Released about two years ago, A Busy Day for Birds is among my favorite books by Lucy Cousins (The other one being “Hooray for Fish! without stopping to think that hey, these are birds as well--with cool bird abilities and behaviors of their own.Mae fersiwn Iaith Arwyddion Prydain o’r fideo ar gael hefyd, ynghyd â fersiwn Gymraeg, sydd wedi’i haddasu a’i darllen gan Aneirin Karadog. Author Guy Bass introduces SCRAP, about one robot who tried to protect the humans on his planet against an army of robots. Each page is filled with bold colours and birds that are very recognisable and themselves have bold outlines and colourings.

Read the story, then pore over a spread to spot the main characters, a ballerina in an elegant arabesque, and a sneaky peacock. The illustrations are all full bleeds and every page features a different bird with various bright colors that leap off the glossy paper. Although this book can get kids involved in acting out bird actions, it also makes for plain fun reading and I know that the rhymes and colourful pictures would have made me want to read this over again and again when I was younger.

Page by page different types of birds are beautifully illustrated with exciting verbs used to describe their actions. Not only does this book show the young readers different types of birds, but it also shows the different kinds of bird behavior in fun filled way. With delicate chapter-head illustrations by Freya Hartas, this spicy, unexpected book takes several chances, and pulls them all off with panache.

For a subversive pre-Easter treat, Elys Dolan’s Mr Bunny’s Chocolate Factory (Oxford) is a splendid, Roald Dahl-esque introduction to capitalism, protest and working conditions. Similar to her earlier book, Hooray for Fish, Hooray for Birds shows many different types of birds doing different things and invites participation with its large, colorful illustrations. This book introduces young children to a number of different birds but they will need to rely on whoever is reading the book to them to supply the birds’ names as these are not included in the text. This is a perfect read-aloud book, considering its large print, vibrant illustrations and rhyming text.

But after watched the official youtube which the man reading this book, my son love it, but still feeling TOO MUCH DEEP DARK COLOURS. Looking through the book you could point out birds that you saw and talk more about what the birds were doing in their natural environment. This cheerful, energetic book invites young storytellers to get stuck in, shaping their own narratives and playing with form as they do so. This is an excellent book for an interactive read aloud, the listeners will have a hard time sitting still in their seats.
