I also had a special test for it, something I don’t expect to be relevant for most homes, but seemed interesting nonetheless. My living room, for some reason, has a very small step right through the middle of it. It’s just like an inch tall, and I wanted to see if the Lefant M1 can overcome it. It can’t, unfortunately.
Where it falls down, however, is navigation. In attempting to clean a larger space, this vacuum just couldn’t find its way around well enough. Its mapping only shows you where it’s been, with little intelligence applied to seeking out areas it hasn’t covered. And if it can’t find its way around it isn’t going to be able to show off its cleaning skills, which makes it tough for us to recommend buying. Another reason could be that the brushes are not spinning. This can happen if they become tangled with something. The Lefant M1 Vacuum Robot and Mop is a solid product. It has a lot of great features and overall works quite well. I was a bit frustrated with its initial refusal to clean the hard floor in my kitchen, but eventually, this worked itself out.
Cleaning test
On the map you have options to: mark an area for a spot clean (which the app calls ‘Pointing and sweeping’), clean a particular area by dragging a rectangle around it, or set a no-go zone. The latter can be performed even while the robot is on its initial mapping run, which is good if you have cable nests and the like that you want it to avoid without having to clear them up first. The Lefant vacuum cleaners do marvelous work of cleansing hardwood floors. As an added benefit, their product is able to catch up and clean the pets’ hair. The product has been tested to give excellent cleaning service. With such a remarkable suction capacity it does a great job. In the rice test, the Lefant collected 96% of the spill from short-pile carpet, and 94% from hard floor, where scatter tends to be worse. This is above average across all our robot vacuum tests, and comes close to the results of the best robots we’ve tested of late, including the Ecovacs Deebot X1 Omni. If all of the above troubleshooting steps fail, it is possible that there are internal electrical issues with your Lefant robot vacuum. How can I buy the replace the accessories used by the robot vacuum, including filters, side brushes, water tank and mops? However, if your house has a lot of pet hair, the brush design isn’t ideally suited to deal with that. Granted, other competitors in the same price range also had this problem, and many fared even worse. Basically, pet hair can get caught in the brush, which means you have to clean it to get it to work at full capacity. It worked particularly well with rice. On carpet, the scatter was fairly minimal and my kitchen scales measured a 100% collection of my 50g spillage of rice. There were a few grains still scattered beyond the reach of the vacuum but it was less than 1g. On hard floor, the robot scattered the rice grains a little further out of reach but it still performed exceptionally well, collecting 98% of the test spill. If the cord is not damaged, try resetting the vacuum. To do this, press and hold the power button for about three seconds.
