About this deal

There are several types of wires available, the most common type used in FPV drones is silicone stranded wire. Compared to solid core wires, stranded wires are more flexible and easier to work with. When building an FPV drone, minimizing weight is important. For instance, here are some commonly used wire gauges for different components on a 6S 5-inch FPV drone:

Here I made three adapters for 2S, 3S (XT30) and 4S (XT60). You can remove the wires in the middle, all you need are the two wires on the outside (first and last wires). Solder these two wires to the XT30/XT60 connector, Positive to Positive, Negative to Negative. While it’s tempting to overcompensate and use larger connectors, it’s not always necessary and can add unnecessary weight to your drone. In some cases, it may even have a negative impact on your drone’s performance. For example, when it comes to micro drones such as Tiny Whoops, there’s a debate about whether XT30 connectors or BT2.0 / A30 connectors are the better option. While XT30 connectors have a lower resistance than PH2.0, BT2.0 and A30, but the benefits are hardly noticeable while it’s much heavier, some argue that BT2.0 and A30 are the optimal choices because they provide a good compromise between weight and performance. You can learn more about these connectors for micro drones in my testing: https://oscarliang.com/micro-battery-connectors-testing/Deans: Medium-sized. Perfect for larger RC cars (1/8, 1/10 scale), boats, drones, and RC planes with a wingspan over 1m. Best paired with 3S, 4S, and 6S LiPo batteries with capacities over 1500mAh. Durability & Lifespan Both connectors have a commendable lifespan, enduring over 1000+ cycles. However, in terms of temperature resistance, Deans slightly outdoes XT30, withstanding temperatures ranging from -20°C to 150°C, compared to XT30’s -20°C to 120°C. Conclusion

When extending a capacitor in your FPV drone, the recommended wire gauge will depend on the size of the capacitor and the amount of current it will be handling. But in general, the length of the wires are more important than the wire gauge. Importance: Rated current is critical. The connector should handle the device’s maximum current draw without overheating. Overpowering motors or devices with high current draws can cause connectors to heat up, potentially leading to melting. When you charge your battery this way, all the current will go through these two wires in the balance lead, instead of the discharge lead, as shown in the image below. Deans vs XT60: The Battle of the Connectors FAQs of XT30 and Deans Connector Q: Is the plug getting hot due to excessive current? While the XT60, a member of the XT series, is widely regarded as a technologically advanced successor to the Deans, it’s crucial to note that many RC manufacturers still prefer the Deans due to its cost-effectiveness. This affordability makes the Deans plug a preferred choice for many, despite the rising popularity of the XT60 in various RC models and chargers. Usability Exceeding the rating of the wire can lead to several serious consequences, such as burnt ESC and silicone insulated wires, melted solder, and more. If we’re talking about RC planes, you’re likely to crash in flight because of this. Likewise, if the wires are too thin, the battery can’t provide enough power to the motor.

Withdrawal of consent has no bearing on the legitimacy of processing that was performed prior to the withdrawal. Interestingly, the rest of the connectors – namely BT2.0, A30, GNB27, and XT30 – performed quite similarly when subjected to the 12A load. Given this, on a Tiny Whoop, you’re unlikely to perceive any noticeable differences between these connectors in the electrical performance. However, when weight becomes a factor, the A30 and BT2.0 connectors stand out as the clear winners. XT30 It’s also important to avoid resting cables on top of the flight controller, apart from potentially causing interference, it could also be hitting the gyro which affect flight performance. Instead, try to route cables underneath or around the FC. Answer: No, it’s not advisable. Pulling the connector by the wire can stress the connection point, potentially leading to wire breakage or damage to the connector itself. This can cause the connector to fail prematurely or even create a potential hazard. It’s always best to grip the connector’s body when plugging or unplugging, ensuring that the force applied is directly on the connector and not on the wire.Products that weigh more than 0.5 KG may cost more than what's shown (for example, test equipment, machines, >500mL liquids, etc).

Compared to PVC-insulated wires, Silicone-insulated wire is preferred for RC applications due to its flexibility, especially as multirotor frames and components continue to shrink in size. Silicone wires are also lightweight and can tolerate a wider temperature range, making them more durable in extreme environments. In addition, they are less likely to melt or shrink when exposed to heat during soldering. Electrical Resistance in Wires

There is no patent on the XT30 connector, we hope this product is sold everywhere in the world and dominates the market, reducing customer dependency on the over-priced and underperforming alternatives for this amp class. To maintain consistency throughout the testing, I chose to use the same battery for all the connectors (a 2S 300mAh LiHV battery). The original connector on this battery was replaced with the connectors under test. Physical properties: In terms of softness, the silicone wire is relatively soft. And PVC is relatively hard. At low temperatures, PVC wire is softer than silicone wire. When connecting two wires, the maximum current that can be passed through them is limited by the smaller wire. Therefore, if you are extending a wire, it’s best to match the wire gauge and use the same AWG wire. Using larger wires than necessary doesn’t provide any benefit but extra weight, which is not ideal for an aircraft. Transfer Multisort Elektronik sp. z o.o., ul.
