About this deal

In the Harry Potter franchise, there are four Houses, and each House represents one of the four classical elements: Fire for Gryffindor, Earth for Hufflepuff, Air for Ravenclaw, and Water for Slytherin. Each of them also represents one of the four states of matter: Plasma — Fire, Gryffindor, Gas — Air, Ravenclaw, Liquid — Water, Slytherin, and Solid — Earth, Hufflepuff. Also, each of the houses has its animalistic symbol: Lion is the symbol of Gryffindor, Ravenclaw has an eagle, Slytherin’s symbol is a serpent, and the symbol of Hufflepuff is a badger. Rowling has suggested that she may have inadvertently taken the name from the hogwort plant ( Croton capitatus), which she had seen at Kew Gardens some time before writing the series, [31] although the names "The Hogwarts" and "Hoggwart" appear in the 1954 Nigel Molesworth book How to Be Topp by Geoffrey Willans. [32] [33] The name "Hogwart" also appears in the 1986 Labyrinth fantasy film. [34]

Founded in the tenth century, Hogwarts embodied the spirit of the four greatest witches and wizards. Their names: Godric Gryffindor, Salazar Slytherin, Rowena Ravenclaw, and Helga Hufflepuff. Their last names give custom identities to the four houses in the school. Honorary Herbology participant, Rookie of Dumbledore's Army in fifth year, Waiter at the Slug Club Christmas Party in his sixth year, and Acting Leader of Dumbledore's Army in his seventh year. Eventually married Hannah Abbott and briefly became an Auror, before becoming Herbology Professor of Hogwarts from some point in the 2010s onward. The walls are decorated with pictures of mythical creatures and notable Gryffindor members. Winding mahogany staircases lead to the dormitories. The dormitories have ancient mahogany four-poster beds hung with scarlet curtains with threaded gold.

After several years, Salazar Slytherin left Hogwarts. He reasoned that only witches and wizards with pure blood should have their education at Hogwarts. The other founders, however, didn’t share his opinion. But before leaving the school, Slytherin built the Chamber of Secrets.

The Chamber of Secrets, which is deep under the school (most likely under the lake), [22] was home to an ancient Basilisk, intended to be used to purge the school of Muggle-born students. Salazar Slytherin, one of the founders of Hogwarts, built the Chamber before he left the school. The school has twelve teachers who focus on a subject. Few of the subjects are transfiguration, charms, potions, astronomy, and the history of magic. At the close of the fifth year, the school conducts the OWL test. OWL stands for Ordinary Wizarding Level, and it covers all subjects. The Mirror of Erised can be found in the final chamber, further enchanted by Dumbledore to bestow the Philosopher's Stone upon a seeker only hoping to acquire the stone but not use it for selfish means. Several model trains have been made of the Hogwarts Express. An 00 gauge is produced by Hornby, though this is of a Castle Class locomotive rather than the Hall Class used in the films. A three-rail H0 gauge model is produced by Märklin, and a two-rail H0/00 was produced in the early 2000s by Bachmann. Several now-discontinued L gauge models have been produced by LEGO. Lionel has released an O gauge set in their 2007 catalogue and a G gauge set for 2008. [27] [28] The train began use in the 1850s. Before that, pupils used to reach Hogwarts on brooms or enchanted carriages. [25]

Keeper and Captain of the Gryffindor Quidditch team [14] [46] and Winner of the Award for Effort. Eventually became Reserve Keeper for Puddlemere United.

The Gryffindor faculty of Hogwarts got its name in honor of Godric Gryffindor, who was one of the Fiume founders of the Hogwarts school. Godric is considered to be the most experienced duelist of his time. To become a Gryffindor student you have to be brave and honest. The steam engine used in the film adaptations is the GWR 4900 Class 5972 Olton Hall, but it was not the first locomotive to be disguised as the Hogwarts Express. To promote the books, the Southern Railway locomotive 34027 Taw Valley was repainted and renamed temporarily, but was rejected by director Chris Columbus as looking 'too modern' for the film. Filming locations for the Hogwarts Express sequences include Goathland on the North Yorkshire Moors Railway, Kings Cross railway station and the route of the Jacobite Express which follows the West Highland Line from Fort William to Mallaig in Scotland, as it crosses the Glenfinnan Viaduct. [26] Gryffindor's common room has stuffed armchairs and a cozy fire. The arched windows look out over the expansive Quidditch Pitch, Hogwarts Lake, and the Forbidden Forest. Hung above the Fireplace is a picture of Godric Gryffindor. Like every child, Rowling had a dream. With books around her, she wanted to become a writer. So, at age six, Rowling wrote her first book entitled—Rabbit. Then, five years later, she wrote her second book about seven cursed diamonds. Rowling, J. K. (2000).
