About this deal

Datta: I was reading a BBC article about Jennifer Lopez that was calling her generous. Like, she’s really generous with her publicity. I don't think either main character was likeable, Leo was a privileged white brat. Literally what did he bring to the table other than the fact he had no aim in life because poor little rich boy and public eye blah blah like rich ppl probs boohoo, and it was soooo funny to me how the writers and Leo himself tried to portray him as like not like other white men (even tho the writers had a moment of 'actually he is like the others bc he doesn't understand consequences and repercussions faced by woc') overall thought he was an annoying and unattractive love interest, what was his personality? Smoking and being snarky? I literally could not tell you Stream It Or Skip It: 'Holiday Road' on Hallmark, Where Nine Strangers Come Together for an Unforgettable Christmas Roadtrip

MC: I agree. I’d love to see more romance that wasn’t so fixated on the question of whether someone was a good person, but, rather, are they the right person? Stream It Or Skip It: ‘Oppenheimer’ on VOD, Christopher Nolan's Sprawling, Urgent Three-Hour Nuclear Biopic A tasty, if not always tasteful, tale of supernatural mayhem that fans of King and Crichton alike will enjoy. Well, I think we can say definitively that the millennial romance genre is not my thing. Honestly, this book was exhausting.Effortlessly cool, razor-sharp and crazy fun – I couldn’t put it down’ TAYLOR JENKINS REID, author of DAISY JONES AND THE SIX OD: I’m always really interested in power dynamics within romantic relationships, and relationships that will either subvert or gleefully lean into a complicated give-and-take of power. Two prime examples of this would be Jadine and Son from Toni Morrison’s Tar Baby and Jane Austen’s Emma with her Mr. Knightley. And I love watching reality-TV shows for exactly this reason; whether fabricated or authentic, reality TV is honestly a gold mine of inspiration in terms of character dynamics.

The complex, Hollywood love story we've all been waiting for—I couldn't get enough."—Emily Henry, New York Times bestselling author of Beach Read This discourse unfolded over three Hot Topics segments, giving fans plenty of time to bemoan the onstage chaos. I mean, they do show up for each other in great ways, and do the big romantic gesture thing, but their communication is terrible after seven years, and that could have saved a LOT of time. For almost a decade, the public, press and paparazzi can’t get enough of their relationship. What they don’t know is their romance is staged. BUT is it really all for show?

OD: Additionally, we can’t talk about chemistry without mentioning sex! We didn’t want there to be an obvious pivot between how Win and Leo treat each other during sex and how they treat each other the rest of the time; rather, it should be a natural extension of their dynamic. If a guy is really good in bed, that element of his character should still be present even when the actual sex is over. The View Was Exhausting sweeps you up into the tilt-a-whirl of Hollywood relationships, and what happens when the line between fake and real begins to blur. This richly drawn romance is, crucially, also a journey through the unjust rules forced upon women—especially women of color— who dare to play the fame game. It's timely, touching, and a tantalizing love story."

The View Was Exhausting follows Hollywood upcomer Whitman ‘Win’ Tagore and Leo Milanowski’s mutually beneficial friends-with-benefits fake dating on-off relationship. They rely on each other as the big guns when things inevitably go awry in their lives and they need a boost of some good publicity. I thought The View Was Exhausting was just excellent. I love “Hollywood” novels even if this didn’t take place in Hollywood, and I thought it raised some interesting discussion about racism in the film industry. I was utterly captivated from start to finish! To take Win as an example, she’s aware from past experience that she is not the best at confrontation because she often loses her temper and says more than she means to, so she feels that it’s best not to confront these powerful executives who her career depends on. She’s afraid that the risks will outweigh the benefits of keeping quiet. But maybe a different woman in her position would feel differently about it and would have less concerns about being confrontational and feel better equipped to deal with the fallout, so we would give that person different advice. What Win really needs is an active support system and to be part of a wider community of people she can discuss these issues with in a non-confrontational setting, as well as a way to channel her frustration into her work rather than letting it bubble up in messy arguments. But, for someone else, a community might make no real difference, or maybe they have no problem being confrontational, in which case they can speak their mind as and how they choose!Today, guest hosts Ana Navarro and Alyssa Farah joined the panel to discuss the latest developments in Russia’s invasion of Ukraine. More specifically, the hosts discussed the United States’ role in the crisis, from conservative politicians like Donald Trump and Tulsi Gabbard’s pro-Russia stances to whether the country can enact any other measures in hopes of alleviating war. Clements: We don’t have any big announcements to make, but it’s something that we’ve been dreaming about the whole time we were writing it, as well. If anybody wants to turn it into anything, we’d be delighted. Delicious... A dazzling mix of glitzy Hollywood, torrid gossip and dreamy romance - and also delivers a cutting critique of power, celebrity and privilege' HAZEL BARKWORTH

Live': Kelly Ripa Asks Mark Consuelos If He Is Taking Her And The Audience On A "Strip Club Crawl" To Honor His Favorite Places In New York Datta: We’d especially love to see it as a film, just because one of the big influences when we were writing was the golden era of early-2000s rom-coms—Katherine Heigl at the peak of her career—which we love so much. I think we all have differing opinions on what fake dating constitutes... whatever this book was, it was not the fake dating that I've envisioned.... I think it's a lot more interesting when the pair involved in the fake dating haven't already gone the full nine yards like the only thing left is you guys just dawdling over the fact you don't have an official label... Hannah Montana did celebs fake dating better than this lmao Clements: It feels like there’s a bit of a readjustment or rethinking. Romance can be very complicated. It can grapple with important, real-world issues, but also falling in love is one of the most complicated and significant things that happens to a lot of people. Why should a book that’s about falling in love not being considered in the same light [as literary fiction]? Deft, funny and tender, The View Was Exhausting is as smart as it is swoon-worthy – this is exactly the book you should be reading right now!”Sometimes the stress gets to her and publicity turns against her. And that’s when she turns to Leo Milanowski, the playboy heir to a hotel fortune, who at times is followed by his own cloud of trouble and ennui. The two have been romantically linked numerous times, and whenever they’re together their romance lifts both of them out of whatever scandal either faces and distracts the public into buying into their love story.
