The strongest part of this series is by far Tom Taylor's writing, as he nails the character of Dick so well, and also does a good job of writing the bat family. Guess staring Barbara Gordon,Tim Drake, and cameos or mention of the whole Bat family and a couple of others. Nothing feels like too much, but it’s still outstanding in detail and I am always excited to see what he’ll do next. Okay, the essence of Dick Grayson as a person and Nightwing as his vigilante alias has never felt so perfectly captured. He’s a young man, perpetually stuck in that nebulous transition into adulthood where living on your own and forging your own path is only the start to becoming who you are meant to be.

The trouble is Bludhaven is no longer in the gangsters back pocket they see officially are the city. This was very much a love letter to this character, and the entire Batfamily, by an author who knows how to yank on your heartstrings without making you feel like they're trying to give you diabetes. Tom Taylor is getting to be synonomous with good quality, and his Nightwing run is yet another shining example of why.He truly understands these characters and he places them in situations that pulls on your heartstrings. This first 6 issue arc shows Dick Grayson (Nightwing) being visited by an old friend, Barbara Gordan.

On top of that, fans of Barbara Gordon will be happy with her prominence in this series, especially in regards to her romantic relationship with Dick. This is why Dick’s new struggle of inheriting vast wealth is an equally intriguing and troublesome angle. Dick Grayson’s big heart has protected those persecuted by bullies in his youth, combated evil alongside Batman as Robin, and pledged his newly inherited wealth to enriching Bludhaven as Nightwing.I overall just really loved this volume, and this series is by far my favorite book on the shelf as of right now!
