Acer’s dizzying array of Chromebook’s can be hard to sift through, but this specific model I am reviewing is the 2018 Acer Chromebook 14 CB3-431 NX. I then proceeded to install the Brave web browser, eSword (and all of its library/resources), and MS Office 2007 Professional. Its metal-clad chassis is excellent, the keyboard comfortable, and you’re getting superb build quality. because the version of Chrome on chromebooks is the full desktop-strength version, not the mobile version you find on Android or iOS. After that, I cleaned up Windows, removed the bloatware, disabled some system services that I wouldn't be needing, and locked it down.

There’s not a whole lot of travel to each key press, and I can’t say it’s especially satisfying to type on for long review writing sessions, however. That isn’t a wide difference in practical terms, but I would have expected the newer Intel Celeron N3160 chip to just about nudge ahead.

Before beginning, make sure that your laptop is completely turned off, and disconnected from any external power sources.
